Massive oversized coats for AW16/17 in fashion mags

Just looking at the coats in a fashion magazine and they're all huge. They look like they are both too long and too big for the models. So unflattering and you know that if the models look like they need a trolley to go with that £2,355 coat, then it aint gonna flatter the regular figure either.

I was hoping to see a fitted, navy coat single breasted with 70s lapels. I'm going to be disappointed I think.

Seen any good coats that would flatter !?

Really ..I hate the oversized trend.
I'm only small so anything oversized looks ridiculous.

I know! even tall models couldn't pull it off.

I like this 158 cm tall and size 8-10

This is a juicy price so I'll keep an eye out for a cheaper copy. But I bet this barbour one would be warm. Or maybe not

I hate the trend for oversize coats...I bought a lovely fitted one last year I will stick with...good job I dont follow fashion.

Saw an amazing fitted coat when looking for a tweed one and trying to remember which one it was

keep thinking! Where was it!

I've seen my perfect coat, well, maybe it could be a brighter shade of navy but this is nice.

Somebody on another coat thread linked to anothercountry and they have some tweed coats. Also dubarry, I thought they did shoes but they have coats too.

Never thought of Barbour for coats - like both of those. I agree this oversized look is not flattering on anyone. Hasn't been since the days of Yamamoto (sp) and never will be.
I love a neat, fitted coat - warmer as well.

I mean come on..how the hell is that flattering?
Can you imagine walking in tescos for some eggs and a loaf of bread wearing that?
Or rocking up to drop your kids at school with that coat on?
They would think you were loco

That's cute - too short and young for me but I love a fitted military style.

Alpaca blue

or

Hint of cashmere

Only large sizes, but OMG I find Jaeger Outlet so dangerous!

Happy hunting

I absolutely love that first pic, Whatdowedo! I'm not sold on the colour but the shape is amazing. Just goes to show that it takes all sorts :)

I feel too old/sedate for that red one as well but it'd be cute on somebody younger.

I never would have looked at Barbour either except for the other coat thread.
I'm scrolling through H&M now, feeling underwhelmed.

I had a very over sized hit pink jaegar coat I got on eBay a while back. It was mahooosive as the seller misjudged the size a bit when listing. It came with a huge attached tropical flower in bright green, purple, orange and turquoise.

The taxi drivers in the town I was living in then called me the pink lady (I'd had a hot pink silk opera coat in summer). One day in Sainsburys a lady who was evidently undergoing chemo, burst into a huge smile when she saw me and came up to me to say "that is the best coat ever". If it made someone fighting cancer happy, good enough for me.

Warm as toast too, could wrap and dnuggle it round myself.

Oh, I think I have that Ted Baker one (or a very similar one). It kept me lovely and toasty through last winter.

Mine is 70% wool and 10% cashmere though, just checked. Might not be the same one.

pacific Jaeger Outlet is due another 40% sale soon, also keep an eye on Brand Alley which clears all the Jaeger stock. They don't have much just now but frequently restock and also very often 20% extra off as well.
