I have to buy boots this winter

I sent back the Ted and whatever it's called last year because even with 20% off they did not look worth the money. The fit was all baggy around the ankle but maybe that was one particular style ?
I think I'm normal enough in terms of calf size it's my bloody feet ... I'm a 9 in boots because I want to wear socks.
Any brands or shops I should go to first ?
