Any jewellers out there to answer a quick question please?

I have had a new wedding ring made in platinum after developing an allergy to my original ring. They looked at my old one and ordered the equivalent width (3mm) which came yesterday. The problem is that it looks wider than my original and I don't like it, I look at it and think 'I wouldn't have chosen that'

My question is, can I go back to the jeweller and get them to make it narrower? I'm guessing it's possible to do?

They'd probably just have to order you a new one. Do you have your original for comparison?

if they're both 3mm then it really isn't their fault. Did you definitely go for the same shape of band as when a band has less of a curve on it, it can look broader.

I took my original ring when we went in to order the new one. There's a noticeable difference between the two, my original is rounder and thinner on my finger than the new one. If I'd tried the new one on first I'd have said straight away that it's too wide.
DH has said he'll take it back with the original and see what they say. In theory they are both 3mm rings, but in the flesh the platinum is bigger and looks at least a mm wider.
Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.

It sounds like they've given you the wrong shape of band OP- if it was meant to be like for like I'd stick to your guns as they've ordered the wrong thing.

Good luck!
