I've had these done a few times.

I am going on holiday tomorrow - long haul. I really want to get them done today but am concerned I don't have time for a patch test.

In truth have never had 24 hour patch test done before. They usually give it 5 mins. Once I went to a different salon and I started to react and she changed brands to sensitive which was fine. I don't want to risk reacting on the plane.

Actually, as I write this out I think I am coming to the conclusion it isn't worth the risk. But I think I'll ask anyway...should I or shouldn't I?

if you have previous history of allergic reastions as you say, I certainly would not risk it.
