Congratulations! What do you want to wear? What type of wedding are you planning and what time of year? What size are you, which are your worst and best features?

I'm in the same boat! I really really want to wear a proper dress but my DM scoffed at the idea...I'm 42 and ours will be casual - hog roast, no sit down etc, but I reeeeeally want a slinky sexy dress this time!

If you want to wear s wedding dress then do. I'm fat and 49 and I'd wear a wedding dress if I damned well wanted to. You'll rock it, I'm sure!

Me! I'm 38 and it will be second time too. I've gone for a shorter style dress, very plain ivory silk with a lace bit that goes over the top, kind of like a back to front short cardigan. Still bridal but not OTT.
What sort of dress do you want? Doesn't have to be bridal if you don't want, you could get something fabulous and designer instead?

Oh and my mum also scoffed at the idea of me wearing a wedding dress again. 'But you've already done it once'. I think she was close to suggesting a 'nice suit'! Even she agreed my choice of dress was nice in the end!
Ignore the naysayers and wear whatever you want.

I was a second time bride and I went for the whole world - white huge dress to the floor, fancy bridal shoes, big venue with lots of wedding stuff everywhere. Just as if it was a first wedding - which it was for dh. Just go for whatever you like!

Congratulations!

I don't think the fact that it's your second wedding should influence what you wear. What do you want to wear?

That said, I do know people who felt less pressure to be traditional the second time around and had the confidence to wear what they really wanted as they didn't feel the same expectation from friends and family. My sister wore a stunning Vivienne Westwood evening dress that was a sale bargain. It was a fraction of the price of a traditional wedding dress (although more than she would normally spend on an evening dress) but she has been able to wear it again and again.

I got married for 2nd time round 3 years ago. We had a very small do (us, children and witnesses with their spouses) and I went to House of Frasier and tried stuff on and picked a long dove grey dress which looked nice and wore it with navy bolero and shoes.

Go and try stuff on and see what you like.

Congrats!

I just don't know, I still want something long and sofisticated , probably not white not sure , gold maybe? I'm not fat size 12 but I have got a large waist so I don't want to emphasise that bit , my dd will be bridesmaid and my 2 soon to be sds too plus my son. My dad is 83 and unfortunately has cancer so I'm not sure he'll be here , horrible to say but got to face up to it. If he's not I'm worrying about who will give me away 😞 Maybe my son?

Sorry to hear about your dad Flowers Do you need anyone to give you away? I walked myself up the aisle Grin - your son would be fine otherwise I'm sure. Smile

Sorry to hear about your dad too.

I also walked down the (very short) aisle myself - DD went before me with a little bunch of flowers.

Personal shopper at a big department store might be able to offer suggestions on hiding certain bits.

Congratulations!
Went to a wedding recently where the bride wore a bronze coloured evening gown and looked stunning. Agree with PP - have fun trying things on, try a variety of styles, see what you like and what emphasises all your best features and if you are comfortable in your dress you will look lovely!
I've seen sons give Mum away and a mother give her daughter away so don't worry about that part. How old is your son OP? I bet he'd be honoured to walk you up the aisle though I hope your Dad is well enough. All the very best with finding your perfect dress.

I wore this the 2nd time around. My mum said she thought I looked better than the first time. Our wedding was a casual registry office, then afterwards at a posh gastro pub.

I am twice married. The second time I didn't want a 'proper' wedding dress as I'd had that the first time, but in the end I fell in love with a strapless, pearl bodiced, tulle, princess dress! The only unusual thing about it was that it was tea length. I wore it and felt amazing.

I say where whatever the hell you want, regardless of age or the fact that it's your second time. I felt like I should play down my second wedding at first, but in the end it was much more of an event than the first and I loved every minute. Congratulations!

Congratulations. I wore this two years ago for my second wedding at 44 years old. Wear what you want to wear, there's no right or wrong.

I wore a simple floor length dress from ghost and I felt so elegant and sophisticated in! I loved my first time around dress but this a far more relaxed look.
