Nike Cortez - ok for gym?

Have my eye on a glorious pair of yellow Nike Cortez, but would love to know if they are any use for actual exercise, or merely for striding around looking a tiny bit age inappropriate cool?

Depends what you mean by "exercise". Weights at the gym and a few step ups = OK. A 5k run = not OK.

Spin class = OK. Dance class = not ok.

In other words, anything not requiring v. supportive trainers and non-impact based would be fine. Beyond that - no.
