At home eyebrow tint

Does anyone tint their eyebrows at home? I've been having mine done in a salon for a few months now and it's working out quite expensive so am thinking of doing it myself at home, it looks fairly easy to do (famous last words!!) if you do it at home, what kit do you use? I've seen Refectocil online which has very good reviews...also I am sort of a medium brown, so not sure what colour to order?!

I use ColourSport from Boots in dark brown, no complaints at all. Costs about £8 and I get 8-10 applications out of it

I dye my eyebrows at home. I think my kit is Eyelure or something like that in dark brown, from Superdrug. I've been doing it for about a year now and still haven't finished my first box, so excellent value for money.

Also eyelure, use dark brown (I'm medium brown). I did it for minimum time first but didn't notice any difference so now do longer. Dead easy and dead cheap.

I do the same as Lotta. Easy peasy.

I use Refectocil - honestly it is dead easy. Beware the Brown is really dark, I mix a little bit of brown with a little bit of light brown and 4-5 peroxide drops, mix, whack it on, leave 4 minutes while you rinse the bowl then wipe off with tissue. Done. Love it, it's so quick and easy, I really can't imagine paying someone do it.

I'm reading Refectocil as Rectofil and getting a different image altogether!

Squoosh, look at us with our exquisite taste! You'll be on the Benedict bus before you know it Wink

So how do you actually do it? How do you not get all the little blonde hair too? Or is that just me?

Lotta I can assure you that I will never be on board the Benedict bus to Cumberbatch central. I've got an all day past for the Ralph Fiennes express and that will do me just fine! Wink

Tilly you actually want to get the little blonde hairs, that's what makes the difference really. Whichever one you use, apply the mix in the rough shape of your eyebrow, you can tidy up around the edges with a damp cotton bud if you like, you probably won't need to. I don't know about the Eylure one, but the one I use isn't at all runny so it only goes where you put it.

Thanks all!

Dragons - do you mix natural brown with light brown? I've ordered natural brown....but if it's very dark I may order a light brown tube as well to mix them.

I do hope it's as easy as everyone says!

Squoosh - rectofil could be painful!!

Yes - I mix natural brown 3 with light brown 3.1 at roughly 65/35, but your colouring sounds darker than mine so natural will I reckon be just right for you. I think I left it on for longer the first time too - 7-8 mins instead of the 4 I do now.

About 1cm of dye + 5 drops of liquid peroxide easily does both of my brows, with change. You really will never look back! I need to get some black so I can do my transparent lower lashes.

How long does it last? I get mine done at the beauticians but it really only lasts a week to two weeks.

I've been doing this for 25 years.

However, the dyes have changed in the last few years. They are not the same as they used to be. They only seem to last a couple of weeks.

As Colorsport explain:-

Due to European legislation, lash tinting products containing hydrogen peroxide are “for professional use only” if they are intended to be applied on the eyelashes. As a result, we have reformulated the Colorsport 30 Day Mascara which is now quicker and hydrogen peroxide free

Sigh. Another product that has changed and not for the better. Maybe Brexit will sort that out Wink

I still use it though. They do have a useful tutorial on this site which may help you.

Aoibhe- mine only really lasts about 2-3 weeks but I get them done every 5 weeks as it'd cost me too much to get it done every 2-3, hence me wanting to do my own, then I can do them every 2-3!

Thanks dragons! I'd say my hair is a couple of shades lighter than Kate Middletons, and my eyebrows are lighter and quite sparse so I like them to appear fuller and the same colour as my hair...

I used to use Coloursport fron the high street but have found with the recent box I bought that it gave my eyebrows an orange tinge - not good. I've chucked it out and am getting a salon tint next week to tide me over but might investigate online options

Squoosh, do you have to erm, straddle the Fiennes and Wareing buses then? My phone keeps trying to change Fiennes to Firmness by the way Wink

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread with filth. Squoosh and I have history Grin

I've been using the eylure one and I find it easy to use. It was only about a fiver on Amazon so I thought it's worth a shot. I'm going to try my eyelashes next.
