Fake tan- crap!

Used Palmers gradual (like hell) fake tan stuff. Did all the exfoliating, moisturising on knees etc.

However, it's really dark and streaky. Patches all over....

So how do I get the marks off? I'm stuck in maxi skirts and trousers!

Has anyone used this tanning lotion successfully?

I think that's just a shadow- it isn't irl! (Although that would detract from the crapness of the fake tan effort.)

However, the streaks and patches aren't shadows, they're real. Sad

OP did you moisturize the same day you applied it? You need to scrub and moisturise the day before, then apply the next day so it soaks in evenly.

To get off - have a bath, then rub vigorously with a towel or scrubber when you're still in there and you're wet. Should all come off

Flexitol hard skin balm (or the heel balm is stronger I think). It contains urea and will break down dead skin. I have problem shins and I put on the balm and an hour later I can rub off so much problem skin that I just can't soak or exfoliate off.

Don't think you will get an even result though.

I scrubbed and moisturised in the morning. Moisturised knees, heels etc, then put on tanner.

On a positive note I don't have orange knees or ankles.

I think that there are definitely better products... and you may have over-moisturised... however, streaks and patches are usually caused by inadvertent uneven technique.

ok try leaving it longer between moisturiser and tanner - the only time I've had streaks is due to the same reason.

It won't soak in evenly if you're too slick Grin

I leave it 24 hours, esp if using a gradual tanner that's also a moisturizer.

...and really massage it in well too.

I'm not in the uk but I use St ives or Jergens usually with very good results.

St Tropez do a tan remover mit. It is like a scrubby mit and it saved my streaky fake tan legs before a wedding. You can get it from boots about £4-6. Hope that helps.

Whitening toothpaste will help lift it

Yep.. Scrub Scrub Scrub! Lemon juice and toothpaste can help.

Next time make sure you've got all the moisturiser off beforehand and use barrier cream for knees etc. I use this and other gradual tans and I've never had an issue. Only time I've ever had a fake tan issue at all was when I'd showered about an hour before a spray. The tech said it was because the shower had raised my blood pressure....
