Erm have you tried eating more fresh food and not drinking alcohol? Oh and cutting down on caffeine? DD1 finds her skin brightens up a lot when she's off the booze!

I use rosemary and rose essential oil mixed with filtered water as a lovely refresher for my skin. It also helps with redness. As does Aloe vera gel.

If you have dry skin you could try a couple of drops of sea buckthorn and macadamia oil it's wonderful for early wrinkles!

A few glycolic peels??
Or a few IPL treatments?
Both would help get rid of pigmentation and give a glow.

I'm already 50 Grin and IMO , my skin is pretty good (not all my doing though, my Dad and Gran look much younger than their years)

I don't drink or smoke
I don't wear make-up regularly.

I drink loads of water.

My skin care routine is simple, at the moment I'm using Body shop Vit E cream, BodyShop camomile butter to hot cloth cleanse and a wash in the shower (Soap&Glory the blue one with pink spheres) or Indeed labs exfolliant.

If my skin feels meh I use an overnight mask (Bodyshop Vit E or Superdrug Glycolic peel)

What about one of the acid toners like Pixiglow or try Alpha H? Might just need one new thing to kick start?

Maybe a visit to an aesthetic clinic to have a chat about skincare. I'm thinking glycolic/retinol/vitamin C Changed my life!!

Try the Tropic range of products. I'm 46 and have been using them for four months. Lots of positive comments

Yes 70isalimit Loads of water and herbal teas help a lot too. It is definitely to do with what you PUT IN your body as well as what you put ON it Grin

I use Nip and Fab Extreme Glycolic pads twice a week. I've also changed my blusher from powder to cream along with a highlighter it gives me a bit of a glow.

I agree with 70 and Ppeat. Loads of water and herbal tea.

Dr Stuart's Skin Purify tea is lovely.

Also a good facial oil.

Eyebrows threaded, shaped and dyed....opens your eyes and makes you look wide awake (even if you don't feel it!)

Lush face masks, I like Ayesha and Brazened Honey, but have a look (and sniff) and see which ones take your fancy. Use once a week.

DHC oil cleanser (available on Amazon) followed by usual cleansing routine - only been using a few months but its seems really to clean well and doesn't cause any dryness. Tinted sunscreen (I use No 7 Protect one) - no idea whether it works as I have used it for a couple of years and who knows how raddled I would look otherwise, but I believe its helping my skin and the tinted bit makes me feel a bit more polished. These 2 let me keep make up and facial stuff simple, which definitely helps my skin. And water and stuff too.

Clean face thoroughly every night. Double cleansing ensures this. Use acid toners - lots of recommendations on s&b. Use topical strength vit c serum and/or retin a (start mild). Cheapo moisturiser to lock in moisture (that is all it does).

Cut out sugar. Don't sunbathe.

If you don't want botox/fillers ask about dermabrasion or other non invasive procedures at a good salon. One that has doctor/dermatologist is best.

An illuminating moisturiser. Or basically any beauty product with the word "radiance" in. Stops the knackered look.

Btw if you go down the acid toner route please wear daily High SPF. They made my skin photosensitive and I got some mild pigmentation.

I'm early 40s and have recently started using pure retinol which I got in a pharmacy in Spain as no prescription is needed there! It was cheap, its just a cream in a tube, no other ingredients, no scent, no fancy packaging. But it has had a remarkable effect on my skin, in particular in the lines that had appeared around my eyes. I've almost finished the 0.05% cream and am about to move onto the 0.1% The only thing you need to do is wear sunscreen during the day (or stay out of sun!)

I have glowy skin (and I'm getting on) Grin, I wouldn't use acid based cleansers or whatever, my skin is too sensitive. I use the Weleda calendula/zinc cream which works well for any redness.

BUT I follow a VERY healthy diet Grin Obviously hardly any alcohol, and to reiterate, plenty of filtered water and herbal teas.

I had six sessions of dermabrasion, once a week. Has made a massive and visible difference, reduced wrinkles and congestion.
