Bare minerals make up, any good?

I currently have estee lauder foundation but when i wear out i break out in spots within 12 hours of using it and then cant shift the spots for months! (I dont wear make up very often)

Even when its a brand new unopened bottle it still gives me spots.

Someone has suggested bare minerals as she said estee lauder is a very heavy foundation and possibly not suitable for my sensitive skin.

Clinique and mac make up are too dark for me even with their lighest shade.

Would bare minerals be better?

I prefer Lily Lolo, much more natural looking and it doesn't irritate my skin as it didn't contain busmuth. They do samples on line and have loads of colours so you can test before committing.

Ooohh i ve just looked at it online. I ve never used a powder before. Are the shades lighter in real life that on the net?

Im the lightest shade in everything but someone has said they are very light shades?

I found Bare Minerals too messy, ended up with powder on my clothes and furniture! I use the Laura Geller Balance and Brighten too and love it. I also have the Bronze and Brighten too now for summer which is fab. I have really fair skin and rosacea and find the coverage great.

I am also a big fan of Lily Lolo. You can purchase sample size pots to find your best shade. I'm quite pale and sometimes use china doll and sometimes use blondie.

I do like Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy and my skin doesn't break out at all with it. But my skin is very oily and unfortunately it's not really matte enough for me.

If you do give BM a go don't buy the brush they try to sell you - the Real Techniques one is cheaper and much better!

I like it a lot but I have very dry rosaceac skin and Lily Lolo looks dusty and crepey on me.

I've been using the original bareMinerals powder foundation since Christmas and have to say I do love it. It doesn't go dry or cakey on me and gives a buildable coverage.

Another vote from a pale girl for Laura geller. I rarely wear makeup but usually get spots when I do. Laura geller is pale enough for me, light enough that I don't notice it, my skin is crystal clear on it and so easy to use!

I've become a bit of a Laura geller addict!

Also if you want to try anything like Laura geller or bare minerals get yourself on the qvc website they do starter kits in mini to try and have amazing deals and payment plans if you only want to pay a couple of quid a month.

I like bare minerals- I have a skin condition and it is the only make up that covers it effectively and doesn't make it worse. It doesn't feel as though I have make up on. I second what a previous poster said about the brush- don't buy it as the hairs come out and stick to your face! You can get better ones much cheaper. I use a kabuki brush.

I think they also make a liquid mineral foundation now but I haven't tried it.

I don't like it. It looks flawless for about five minutes then settles into any lines, cakes in any oil. I also didn't much like the coverage as it wasn't good enough so I was adding more and more and it just felt horrible. You know that feeling of the top of a kitchen cabinet? Bit greasy bit dusty? Like that.

Others love it. I just can't get on with it and I've tried several.

I've been using it for a few months & like it, though it can make a nasty powdery mess all over the bathroom!

For me it works best if I wash & dry my face, apply the primer but no moisturiser & let it dry before applying the powder. If I use moisturiser it all starts sliding around after an hour or two.

I have quite greasy skin & still get the odd spot in my 50s.

I really like it- I used Chanel foundation for a while but Bare Minerals suits my skin so much more. It does cake inside fine lines if I apply a thick layer, but I normally just need a light amount to give me a bit of colour, so rarely have this problem. It does cling to dry skin too.

I've also used the eyebrow pencil, lipsticks, eyeshadows, blusher, highlighter and mascara. I'm happy with all of them but the one I couldn't go without is definitely the eyebrow pencil.

I really did not get on with Bare Minerals. It is very over-hyped. Sat heavy and caked on my skin. I think it's very ageing.

I eventually gave up on it and found Laura Mercier which is just a different ball game. Never looked back.

I use Bare Minerals. Second what a pp said about the brush. I use a Real Techniques one.

I avoided foundation for ages as it felt heavy on my skin and by the end of the day, made my face feel itchy. I couldn't wait to wash it off. That doesn't happen with BM, can't feel I'm wearing it. It is a bit of a faff in the mornings tho!

I love BM it's the only make up that really works for me. I've moved to the solid foundation in the compact and it's even better and less of a faff

I enjoy the application and use their primer (have tried other primers too). Always end up looking old as tends to find and worsen any little lines. I have dry skin that looks fine with usual make up. BM dries my skin out.

I don't like it at all, waaaaaayyyy too heavy on me. Made me look somewhat embalmed.

May I recommend BM Beauty "Fairy Glow"? I'm very fair and it's the ONLY mineral foundation that matches my tone something lovely and is at once light and holds on well (I use boots no.17 primer underneath).

The Laura geller looks like a pressed powder so it's not loose like bare minerals. I like the way it's a mixture of shades so it really does match your skin tone rather than having a solid colour

I ve always had a liquid foundation so i am wary of powder. Do you apply powder with a foundation brush or any brush?

save use a big fat brush like a kabuki brush. I usually use a bit of moisturiser or primer first as my skin gets oily and that doesn't let the powder sit well.

I love powder though just stick it on the brush and swirl onto your face it's hard to make a mess. Whereas eith liquid I always have streaks
