Has anyone successfully slimmed down from 14-16 to 10?

What's your height? How did you do it?

I've been big all my life. And I'm really hoping to be a 10 for once in my life. I managed to slim down to a small 12 (from 18-20) but, well, gained weight. I'm almost 5'8".

I have - once. but put the weight back on gradually and now I'm back to a 14 almost 16. I can eat lots and don't like exercise, plus I tend to overeat when I'm under stress.
I'm thinking of buying a fitbit and start low carbing and calorie counting, but I'm not sure if I'm motivated enough yet

Hi,

I went from 14st down to 9st 7lbs. 2st was down to weight watchers and the rest low carb & running 10k twice a week & strength class twice a week. Am 10st now as low carbing is difficult to maintain and I like my wine too much. Am 5ft 8, size 8 in dresses, tops and skirts & size 10 in trousers ( damn these hips!)

Yeah I was 12 stone in my twenties, lots of larger, nice big jacket spud for lunch with cheese, beans and a Diet Coke then nothing but fags the rest of the time.
When I was pregnant I went up to 15 stone and thought this needs fixing.
Lots of weight training, eating properly, steak for breakfast sometimes. Greek yoghurt for lunch, porridge, basically low carbs and it worked I'm an 8/10 and I've kept the weight off

I'm 5ft 2. Have lost almost 4 stone on Slimming World bringing me from size 18 to size 10. Just a few more pounds I want to lose and then the hard job of maintaining it...

Was 11st 7 at my heaviest, got down to 9st 8 with a few ups and downs over a year via MFP, couch to 5k and the odd fag. Am back to 10st but trying to shift a few pounds to go towards 9st.

Sorry, I meant cloth size - 14/16 to 10. But reading your responses, it seems certainly possible. I'm currently 13.5 stones.

Yes I did twice, once in 2013 and again last year post-pregnancy. I started off on the Mumsnet low carb Bootcamp and now I'm a low carb coach for Ways of Eating.

The terrible thing about going with clothes sizes is that it's not actually very good at determining what weight you need to be.

I am a size 12 on top 14 on bottom. I weigh around 10stone 2. I'm 5'7''
this is after pregnancy.

Before pregnancy I was a size 12 top and bottom and weighed 9stone 6.

So as you can see, my hips got wider, and I only weigh slightly more than I did pre pregnancy which even if I lost those 5lbs I wouldn't drop 2 inches in hip size!!

I think you ought to go with a tape measure as that is far more accurate for determining weight loss :) good luck.

I was 13 stone, 5 foot 5 & bursting out of my size 16s.
Did WEightWatchers & went down to 10 & a half stone & size 10-12.

Am currently doing WW again 4 months after having DD & about 10 stone 10.

It's a personal thing to be honest in terms of what works for you. I'd done WW several times before & not managed to stick to it, but the one time it worked I had a really great WW group who were really supportive.

Good luck!

I would say the opposite Dandelion, it doesn't matter what weight you are so long as you fit into the clothes you want to wear.

I can't imagine how you would keep that weight even if you achieved it. Probably a pointless endeavour

Yes I lost 3 stone last year. Was a 14-16, now an 8-10. I started running and controlled calories to about 1400 a day. Now I eat normally, but still run about 7k 3x a week. The weight has stayed off. I got a Fitbit which really helps me regulate my weight.

I've lost 3 stone through slimming world and am now an 8-10 from a 14-16 at my heaviest. I've maintained this size for a year now and it is bloody awesome, I've never felt this positive about my appearance in my entire life. It's done so much for my self confidence. Can't recommend sw highly enough! Good luck xx

Me! I was a size 18-20 and 13st5 at 5ft1. I did it with WW years and years ago, reached my target in 2003. 3 more kids and 13 years later, I'm 9st 1 and a size 10. I still go to my WW meeting every week though or I know it will creep back on

I did once. Went to SW and lost just under 4 stone. Went from a generous 16 to a 10/12 (big boobs stubbornly refused to shrink!). Took my eye of the ball and am now back to a 16 again. I need to shift the weight somehow but don't seem to have the motivation I once had despite loathing the way I look again.

About six years ago I cut out all carbs (except for green veg) and lost a lot of weight, I kept it off for a while too until I decided that life without carbs was too difficult.

Put it all back on in two pregnancies, plus more. I then went from around an 18 to a 12-14 where I currently am (but hoping to be a 12) again through low carb dieting not quite as drastically this time though.

Everyone's different but for me I can eat quite a lot of fat and not gain weight but the minute I eat carbs it piles on.

I'd love to know what's in your low carb porridge, Pissssssed off.

I'm with StuntNun on this - doesn't matter your mass as long as clothes fit and you're not out of puff when you climb a load of stairs!

I have almost always been around a size 10, but have been 9st in that size and now I'm about 10.5st and still a 10-12. I've packed on muscle by starting weightlifting and the gym, I also admit to liking my beer and chocolate. But, my trousers still fit and I'm a damn sight healthier.

I'm like you maggie. I can eat a lot as long as low carb and I either maintain or gain so slowly (like five pounds in several months of overeating high caloric low carb food) but once I go back to carbs - and not even that much carbs - I start piling it on.

Cool toned - my top tip for weight maintenance is the 'no carbs until the evening' rule. So I eat low carb breakfast/lunch/snacks and moderate carb evening meal but after that, allow myself some 'carbage' eg chocolate/crips that way I have it to look forward to and don't feel like i'm missing out.

I've not followed my own advice recently and had a bit of a blow out after falling ill (always comfort eat when ill) so I'm now back on the weight loss wagon, for about the billionth time.

I went from a 24 top 18 bottoms (16st 12) to 6-8 bottom 12-14 top (10st) I have wide ribs and big boobs so struggle to get any smaller on top. I'm also 5ft 8.

Forgot to say I did it by taking up running and hillwalking and healthy eating. I'm currently trying to lose my last stone after pregnancy (3 stone total to lose). I've done slimming world this time. Finding it easy to follow and lost over 2 stone in 10 weeks.

Carbs also come in the beneficial comp!ex kind...

Labels in knickers are not standardised and are not a useful measure of weight.

Yep. I have just done this. It's taken 3 months and sheer determination. I've always been a 10 but put on several stone in this last pregnancy. 8 weeks after ds' birth I was 12 stone and size 14-16. I started the 30 day shred and did it every day. Yeah it's hard with a newborn and 2 more dcs under 5 but it's only 20 minutes worth of exercise a day so everyone should be able to fit that in. I've combined that with sensible low fat eating (weetabix for breakfast fruit for lunch and sensible but filling dinner eg jacket potato/stir fry and loads of rice and fat free yoghurt) with treats at the weekend (a take away some chocolate etc) but still boring breakfast and lunch iyswim. Am 2.5 months in and havd lost over 2 stone and fit back into my size 10 clothes. I still have a bit to go so will continue on for a bit. I feel fantastic for being so fit and eating so well... Now if only I could get ds to start sleeping Hmm

Good luck. It's not easy but make a realistic plan and stick to it.
