I have a seven drawer dressing table. The mirror on it has badly discoloured so I need something else.

I hate anything messy.

I keep buying toiletries bags and shoved stuff in there put stuff in shoe boxes and put them in drawers , then I bought some plastic boxes from Poundland and organized stuff in them but tbh I've got way too much stuff and I'm just overwhelmed by it all.

I have a plastic 4 drawer storage unit which fits into bottom of my cupboard. Each of the 4 drawers are further organised into make up, toiletries, deodorants etc. This is for all spares and non everyday things. Stuff that is currently being used (deodorant) and everyday use (face creams) are in dressing table drawer and on internal wadrobe shelf.

I separate everything , things I use daily are in the bathroom cabinet ( deo , moisturiser , eye cream etc ) then I have plastic baskets inside another bathroom cabinet with hair stuff / bath stuff / face masks etc .
Then I have a three drawer rattan thing on my drawers with make up in it and two IKEA plant pots with brushes and make up pencils in .
Then I have 4 drawers devoted to make up and random crap to do with beauty as well .
The drawers are those massive double ikea ones that everyone has in white ...

I have organisation, but its all a bit 'bitty'.

I've got the top three drawers of a big 9 drawer dresser stuffed with bits:

  • Make-up in one drawer.
  • Facial cleansing/moisturising stuff in one drawer
  • Hairbands and brushes and clips etc in one drawer.

Then I have a slim, 4-drawer dresser in my bedroom as well, with:
  • Hair products in top drawer
  • Body lotions in another drawer
  • Hairdryer, tongs, straightener, BBH etc in another drawer
  • Nail varnishes, nail stuff and foot stuff in the bottom drawer

Bathroom cabinet has two shelves of my posh facial bits, fake tan etc

Another big drawer in the bathroom has bath and shower stuff.

I need an intervention Grin

God, I thought I had too much, but in comparison, I have 4 stackable muji drawers on castors and a bathroom cabinet.
In the airing cupboard I keep, in a basket, spare deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste etc.
My make up is in one little make up bag in one of the drawers.

Basically, the system is this:
Top drawer sudocrem, calendula cream, nit comb, bits and bobs.
Second drawer has my make up bag and a ton of rubbish, samples, hair grips etc.
Third one: don't now, I just shoved stuff in there.
Forth one has body lotions, bath salts.

The bathroom cabinet has make up remover, face creams, perfume, serum etc.
I've got too much stuff.
I am tackling it tomorrow!

I dream of an ikea malm dressing table with dividers in & everything set out in order of use from cleanser to comb. All in little snug compartments so nothing can rattle or fall out of place.

It would save me rooting around to find stuff.

But then where do you put the hairdryer, the bbh and the straighteners?.

I had a cupboard with five big shelves built into the ensuite. It cost about three hundred quid but I LOVE it. For the first time in my life, all my personal grooming bottles, toothbrush, nail polish (absolutely everything) are in one place.Everything is neat and tidy and has a place. There are two big doors so everything is hidden from view and dust I had an argument with DH when he put something of his into it instead of using the main bathroom as I really like knowing that all my things are in the one place.

My hair dryer etc are stored on a small shelf in a scrambled heap on a small shelf in the spare room.

Two drawers in dressing table, one for make-up (with cutlery dividers to keep it tidy) and one for hair & face stuff.
Small basket on the floor next to dressing table for hairdryer and BBH (so they stay plugged in, but look tidy).
Another drawer for perfume (I have tons).

All other stuff, including medicines etc, stays in the bathroom - two huge drawers under basin.

I did Konmari method to get rid of loads of cosmetics and make up I didn't like or didn't use. Now most things are stored inside a chest of drawers in my bedroom. Each drawer is beautifully organised inside, making use of little boxes and dividers to group things together and ensure I can see everything at a glance and reach in and grab what I need. With everything stowed away, the top of the chest is also kept clear at all times, now used for a few picture frames and a vase of flowers.

I would otherwise be a very messy person by nature but this method is so easy that a year later I'm still so so proud of the inside of all my cupboards and drawers.

A bespoke cupboard sounds amazing.

Our builders helpfully designed our bathrooms so that bathroom cabinets can't be fitted anywhere. For reasonably large rooms they have surprisingly little storage space.

Truly it is quite a feat of design Hmm
