I have dark brown long hair and yesterday asked my hairdresser for a few lighter bits round my face. I had in mind that kind of caramel toffee colour. I have ended up with naff bleached wispy white highlights that are waaay too contrasting with my normal colour and look fucking awful.... Can't go back to salon as going to a summer ball tonight!!! What can I get from local Boots (live in rural place)? I remember things in sachets from the 80s, do they still exist? Toners? Semis? I don't want to turn them green or purple!!!

Please help me or I will have to look like a zebra in all the photos tonight!!

Are you anywhere near a Superdrug? These are quite good for topping up colour on faded highlights and tinting greys: www.superdrug.com/Superdrug/Superdrug-Colour-Effects-Warm-Copper-Gold-7%3A34/p/401005 I remember the Shaders/toners from the 80s, they were fab, but not seen them for a long time, the superdrug ones above are quite similar I think.
