I'm in my late 30s and my mineral makeup has started sitting in my wrinkles

That's it really. My makeup looks fine at the start of the day - I only wear Lily Lolo foundation powder, a very small amount of blusher, and mascara. But by the afternoon, the foundation is sitting on top of my skin, and in tiny creases around my eyes confused.

Is it because I'm sweaty, greasy, or old grin? And what can I do about it?

I've recently swapped from LL to max factor miracle illusion asked with a stipple brush.

Do you use a primer?

SpaceKablooie Tue 14-Jun-16 19:23:20

Derelict, no, I don't - I've just been reading about them and think that I possibly should though smile.

I've seen this said a lot on prev threads, that powder foundation like bare minerals etc just doesn't work so well on skin with wrinkles as it just sits there and looks dry. I've never used it so I don't know(but I do have wrinkles!) but it does seem to a common complaint

SpaceKablooie Tue 14-Jun-16 20:13:47

It does make sense that that might happen Fuzzy.

I'm not sure if there's something else going on too though - I do have quite oily skin, and sometimes on (non-wrinkly grin) parts of my face, it looks like the makeup is just sitting on top of my skin.

Primer might help and I also believe with the mineral powder make up, you have to buff, buff and then buff some more to make it look natural, are you doing that?

SpaceKablooie Tue 14-Jun-16 20:48:01

Yes, I think I do that Fuzzy. I use the Lily Lolo super kabuki brush, and make sure that I take my time by singing Happy Birthday in my head grin. Also, I look fine for the first 1/2 of the day.

My friend uses lily Lolo and takes the buffing brush with her wherever she goes, she says that sometimes in the day if it starts to drop a bit then a quick buff with the brush (but no powder) perks it up again. She is late 20's with no wrinkles and slight oily skin probably

Tried it. Made my skin look like an old lady that had over-powdered.
Oh wait

Just bumping in case anyone has any other ideas smile.

I found this with Bare Minerals. It just didn't suit my skin. I converted to Laura Mercier which is a billion times better and doesn't sit heavily.

SpaceKablooie Wed 15-Jun-16 20:27:24

Stellars, I've used Lily Lolo makeup for years though, and I think it used to be okay. Unless my memory is shot too confused.

I liked knowing what makeup to use, but now I don't know what to do sad.

Do you keep your brush clean and also the lid of the pot where you swirl?

SpaceKablooie Wed 15-Jun-16 20:58:36

I try to keep my brush clean - I don't use it until my moisturiser has had time to soak in properly, and I react it once per year. Eek, is that not enough?

And what can I do to keep the lid of the pot clean?

I'm so glad I found this thread - I'm in my early 30s and all of a sudden my mineral foundation has started sitting weirdly on my face too, even when I've only just put it on.

I really can't bear the idea of finding another foundation match though, it took me most of my twenties to get one that wasn't too yellow or dark for my skin tone. The idea of it fills me with exhaustion. Maybe I'll just invest in a paper bag for my head, it'll be less hassle.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Wed 15-Jun-16 21:13:37

Try washing the pot lid - makes a huge difference ime. There ends up being a sticky residue which transfers to your face. With a try!

Dontyouopenthattrapdoor Wed 15-Jun-16 21:15:21

Primer, and use less/none in wrinkly areas.

My face prime is Benefit Porefessional, and I've tried a few. I need much less make up when I put it on, so there's less to crease smile

SpaceKablooie Wed 15-Jun-16 21:29:41

Fab, thanks everyone smile.

I'm going to clean the lid of my foundation, and buy some primer.

LBOCS, we're makeup woe twins! I know exactly what you mean about the thought of having to find a new foundation filling you with dread grin.

SpaceKablooie Thu 16-Jun-16 20:03:17

Argh, I didn't say before, but if I touch my face sometimes, it seems to move the makeup and leave little streaks / patches of makeup elsewhere. I then see these when I go to the bathroom 2 hours later blush.
