Do you have (clothes related) 'if only I were 20 years younger' moments . . .

Mine's just been set off by this t-shirt. (Though when I was young enough to have worn it, I couldn't have afforded it grin )
I'm trying to convince myself I could get away with this one. DH is tactfully sitting on me . . .

TheMasterMurderedMargarita Thu 19-May-16 21:29:20

I would wear the second one but the first is horrible.

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 21:30:37

I would definitely have worn it and loved it when I was a teenager!

TheMasterMurderedMargarita Thu 19-May-16 21:31:22

Buy the second one.
Life's too short

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 21:34:01

I would, but sadly I've measured me/it, and I think the t-shirt might be too short too!

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 21:34:37

Sorry, I think channelling my inner teenager has given me an excess of exclamation marks blush

Hassled Thu 19-May-16 21:35:52

Oh all the time. 20/30 years ago I had no idea what I could have got away with - I was slim and pretty, but had no self-esteem. Now I have the self-esteem, but the ship has long since sailed in terms of cool clothes.

And I hate the T shirts, but I still think if you want them you should go for it.

MrsLettuce Thu 19-May-16 21:38:43

Yes, buy the second one. Life is indeed too short.
Fuck, buy the first one too if it makes you happy , why not? You could wear it to bed.

thiswayplease Thu 19-May-16 21:39:00

Not 20 years, but 15.

I would love to wear this. www.riverisland.com/women/lingerie--nightwear/lingerie/black-lace-longline-bra-683365

But I'm a mum of two and it would look out of place on the school run as I have nowhere to wear it. It's so pretty and I reckon I could get away with it just

MrsLettuce Thu 19-May-16 21:40:04

x post. mn vv slow here

Raasay Thu 19-May-16 21:41:05

I'd lost a lot of weight after my DC were born (wasn't very well) and went shopping g for new clothes with Mum.

She made me try on a body con dress. It did look super on but I did feel that is was whispering 'mutton' at me quietly. grin

I bought another rather more elegant demure lbd instead.

RickOShay Thu 19-May-16 21:41:29

I know what you mean. I love bardot tops. Love love them. Like hassled I didn't make the absolute most of myself when I was slim and lovely. I am now 48. I cannot wear a Bardot top any more. But I would not be 21 again if you paid me grin

MrsLettuce Thu 19-May-16 21:52:58

I think people should wear what makes them happy. This mutton shizz is dreadful. Really.
I'm another who didn't 'make the most' of my youthful firmness as much as I might have. OTOH none of us are getting any younger and I for one surely don't want to be sitting here in another 20 years thinking 'if only I'd worn that while I was younger'.

jumper verion of the second tshirt OP

MrsLettuce Thu 19-May-16 21:54:52

this might't make a bad tong top rouched up a bit OP

MrsLettuce Thu 19-May-16 21:56:52

Oh, meant this one but the off the shoulder job could wotk too. Bit dull though.

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 22:03:25

I think pink space unicorns possibly falls beyond the range of mutton, MrsLettuce . . .
It's tricky - I do know what you're saying about the whole 'mutton' thing, but OTOH, I just think I look much better in clothes that are different to what I'd have worn when I was 21.
And like Rickoshea I'm very happy being the age I am now smile

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 22:04:41

Hmm, the 2nd dress might be just the ticket, though.

SharpieFan Thu 19-May-16 22:08:23

This thread is making me smile as I used to buy cyberdog tshirts off their stall/cave in Camden market more than 20 years ago. grin I loved them!

Wear what you like OP!

I love loads of cute flippy playsuits and stroppy sleeveless things I see about but that ship has unfortunately sailed for me body wise.

this way That long bra thingy is lovely.

RickOShay Thu 19-May-16 22:22:51

I'd love a stroppy top grin

SharpieFan Thu 19-May-16 22:28:15

That was Freudian grin

notagiraffe Thu 19-May-16 22:29:30

Love those dresses. Though grinning because DS1 (13!) lives in Cyberdog clothes when he gets birthday money. I so want a pair of their men's Protonic combats, but am 25 years too old and 25lb too fat for them.

notagiraffe Thu 19-May-16 22:30:12

grin Sharpie and RickOShay

HerRoyalNotness Thu 19-May-16 22:31:59

All the time. For me it's very pretty clothes, ie tutu skirts and sequin dresses. I had zero confidence as a teen and was bossed by my mother about what to wear for so long, i didn't really develop a sense of style. I'm a bit better now, but so many years wasted wearing ugly or too old clothes. Ah well.

Sadik Thu 19-May-16 22:33:14

notagiraffe I did buy myself a fabulous (and extremely bargain on ebay) furry purple and black punkyfish hoodie, and managed to keep it for about 5 minutes before it got annexed by my 14 year old.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel Thu 19-May-16 22:46:37

I miss my shorter tops. Ones that show off my belly. Then again I used to have amazing abs when I sucked them in. Still used to be a bit paranoid about a big belly (I was a size 8 then hmm) now Im a size 14 (just dropped from a 16) and at 37 years old I feel that ship has sailed. I do look longily in the windows of shops that are aimed at 20 somethings.
