Can anyone tell me where I can buy a good Panama hat

For H?
I'm buying it for him as a gift. In the hope that he will stop wearing those hideous sun-hats he currently wears and thinks are 'cool'. They are not. They are ducking hideous. He may as well wear one of those 4-corners-knotted handkerchief hats.

Many TIAs.

I bought DF one from eBay. It's quite a few years ago now, so I don't have the seller details. It came from Ecuador (in its own balsa wood box!) and you could customise it - make the brim larger etc, and pick your own band (plus a spare). It cost about £40 all in, and my dad absolutely loves it and wears it at every opportunity.

I'm sure there will still be sellers offering this service on eBay now, so worth looking.

Oh thanks! I will look.
I hate eBay but it sounds like it's worth a browse. He would love the balsa wood box all the way from Ecuador. Both of us can agree on its coolness.Grin
You have saved me from H resembling this handsome hunk.

How do I measure his head? Just measure with a tape? He has a Stetson, (yes, another 'cool' moment). Maybe that has a size on it.

I think Locks do Panamas. Find a stockist and take him in?

I want one. Is it a huge sartorial faux pas for a woman to buy a men's panama?

Sartorial faux pas? Mais non, pas du tout! Got an email this very evening from Mint Velvet for 15% off. Had a look and voila! Panama hat. PALM for 15% off (they're breaking the bank with 15%. You'd think they'd go for something more rounded, like 20%, their stuff ain't cheap....diatribe over Grin )
