Quick & easy skincare routine wanted, early 40's. Any suggestions please?

I have always been rubbish at cleansing my face and have always just washed it in the shower.
Early 40's now & skin is changing. I'm getting occasional spots & my foundation feels drier than it used to when I apply it. I look more tired & skin just doesn't look fresh anymore so I think more attention is needed.

I want a skincare/cleansing routine but it needs to be quick & simple or I won't do it. My skin is quite sensitive and does react to certain things I've used in the past.

Can anyone share their routine with me please? There are so many products out there I don't know what to use.

Eucerin 5% is a great one
I add grapeseed oil to whatever moisturiser I am using
Some else can suggest a glycolic acid toner - I use those nip and fab ones
I also apply lanolips balm around my eyes at night which plumps things up a little
I flannel cleanse with grapeeed oil first then use a little bar soap on spotty bits as a second cleanse
I stopped using foundation and just use concealer - try the pin point concealing thig by Lisa Eldridge
And use an illuminating primer - no7 or dior are great and they mask my age a lot! Am 38 with oil nose and dry dehydrated cheeks. Lovely.

If nabootique comes along she will be able to give you a better list of products

For cleansing, the quickest and simplest is any micellar cleansing water. You put it on a cotton pad, swipe and you're done. No need to rinse, great for removing eye makeup and cleaning brushes too.

Any moisturiser you like as long as you like the texture.

As for serums, exfoliators and masks I'd say get comfy with cleansing and moisturising regularly first.

SPF is also a necessity for me these days. I use 50+ because I hammer my skin with Alpha H power peel.

Thank you for the ideas. I like the sound of the micellar water. How would you know if you'd cleansed enough? Would you need to use lots of cotton pads just until they appeared clean? I guess it depends on how dirty your face is, but I'm thinking more in terms of makeup removal.

Also on the spf thing, i tried using cliniques city block spf 25 recently and seemed to break out in sore bumps on my face, although I'm not sure if that was a bad reaction or just my age!!

For heavy make-up and SPF you might need a creamy one you can wipe off with a flannel.
I use micellar water to cleanse in the morning and as ane eye makeup remover before a cream cleanse. I use a cream cleanser and a flannel at night to get the SPF off, it used to give me spots too if I didn't thoroughly cleanse it off. It's horrible stuff really!

At the moment I'm using a Decleor one but I've used Clarins. Clinique's creamy cleanser in the purple bottle with a pump is great. I think anything that gives enough 'slip' and isn't too fragranced will be ok.

I'm a lazy sod. If it's got a pump I'm happier 🙂 Swish on face, wipe off with damp flannel. Moisturise, SPF and go.
