Ok for a wedding?

maxi dress

Is this too white and long for a wedding? It's not a really fancy affair so I'm not worried about the style or the length as such but I'm wondering if there's too much plain ivory in the middle with no pattern on and that combined with the length it might be a no-no?

I'd probably pick out one of the colours for a cover up, bright shoes and maybe even a hat.

I need something that will fit a short person and will go with flats, wedges or block heels. It's harder than I thought it would be!

There's this one too (though I prefer the first one) obviously similar colours but the pattern covers the whole dress so might be better?

Just reread your op- personally, I think it is slightly too white in the middle for a wedding, yes. At a quick glance, it could look like a wedding dress, so unless the bride is extremely laid back, I would opt for something with less white\ivory.

Personally (assuming the dress suits you), I think they're both fine for any wedding I've ever been to. With the first dress, I think you'd need to chose the cover-up, handbag and shoes carefully (more casual the better) otherwise you'll run the risk of looking a bit bridesmaidy.

Having said that, ALL of the weddings I've been to have been for wonderful sensible people (and guests) who aren't bridezillas/fussy/tied to strong rules of etiquette/bothered about their guests attire so I could be overly relaxed about such things.

I don't think the M&S one looks very flattering tbh, or quite formal enough for a wedding. I love the first one though!

I prefer the M&S one but either will be fine for a wedding, especially if paired with colourful wrap, shoes and bag.

Absolutely fine for a wedding IMO - there's a lot of colour on there. And a lovely dress.

Neither are really what I usually choose tbh but venue constraints say no narrow heels so it's wedges, blocks or flats. I wondered about trousers or a jumpsuit but can't really find anything I like so I thought a maxi dress would go with any of those shoe options. I'm only 5'3 so it needs to be petite and that's basically what is left! I'd have preferred stronger colours but can't find any in my size that aren't really casual or like bridesmaids dresses.

I'm pale, don't tan etc and I've got dark blonde hair. Size 10 hourglass. I realise none of this is counting towards the dresses but I can't find anything!

Ok, well if you're pale DEFINITELY don't go for the second one! Completely wash you out, as might the first one. A petite, hourglass, size 10 figure should be really easy to dress

Yeah, I'm being rubbish I realise! It's the shoe thing that's throwing me really as I'd usually be in heels but I just can't find anything dressy enough for a wedding that goes with flats, wedges or block heels. The high wedges I like all have an ankle strap which accentuates the stumpiness of my legs which is why I thought about a maxi but I can't find any petite maxis that really work. I might just wear what I like barefoot!

How about this?, sounds like you have similar colouring to me and I'd wear this!

With shoes, I find that a nude/pale pink shoes are great for elongating legs and ankle straps in pale colours are more forgiving. Although I'd be tempted to go for something bright like these!

Well I'd already ordered the first dress as there only seemed to be one 10 left anywhere so I thought I'd better snap it up in case nothing else came along. I'll see what it's like, I can always send it back. Maybe I'll be struck with inspiration at some point!
