Coconut oil for everything!

I just finished reading DmBad Science. Seriously the best book ever if your trying not to spend this year. I now feel like I've been conned for a very long time re face and hair stuff. I've ditched it all and bought a big jar of coconut oil from savers. £3.99 and I promise my skin has never been better. And I've tried it all! The sonic brush thing, Ren, Dr Hauskers, the lot.
I slather the oil on my face and do a double cleanse with it and then leave the last lot on. I'm glowing...and slightly greesy.

Although hopefully Bad Science will stop you from believing that coconut oil pulling is any better for your teeth than swilling water around your mouth and form thinking that coconut oil is a suitable sun screen.

Go coconut!

Grin

I use it on my dogs dry noses and paw pads.
They lick it off, so I suppose they benefit form it internally as well.

Well I prefer almond oil personally Grin And I always use sunscreen too. But I totally agree about Bad Science and the snake oil/skincare industry, particularly anti-aging products.

My mum is obsessed with coconut oil. I have combination skin. Eczema in patches, oil and acne everywhere else. Would it work or just make my skin go totally awol

I just bought a jar and wasn't sure what to do with it. Not sure that the current media promoting coconut oil isn't just a lot of hype either though tbh.

At least its natural though and doesn't cost the earth!

I love it as a body moisturiser, really good on dry, scaly skin.

Agree with neveradullmoment. I bought coconut oil and was very disappointed. My skin was very soft for about 5 minutes after cleansing but it was nowhere near as good for my skin as nivea.

I'm not a fan of coconut oil, it clogs my skin and gives me spots (body and face) and does nothing for my hair.

Jojoba oil on the other hand... Love it. Works wonders on my face (as a hot cloth cleanser), hair (overnight conditioner), body (general moisturisation). My skin doesn't react and is in much better condition since I added it into my routine.

I recently bought a jar and put it on my hair overnight but it didn't do anything so I now use it instead of oil when I'm cooking curries.

I'm not sure it's better than anything other oil whereby the main aim is to retain moisture but for £3.99 for an organic jar of solid oil I'm chuffed. Currently got it on my face and hair. If I don't look like an absolute goddess by the morning I'll demand a refund.

Could also be that I've stopped using my clinique sonic a brush that was much much to harsh for my skin

Excuse my ignorance but do you just slather the solid oil on your face? How do you clean it off again? I really want to give it a go!

I put one thick layer on, use a warm flannel to take it off and then put another layer and leave it on as moisturiser. Repeat the first step if I'm feeling a bit manky. I've got pretty good skin generally but it's been inflamed recently and dry. This had sorted me out in a few days.

I'm absolutely daft about the stuff. Hair, skin, on bagels, you name it, I've tried it.

muddiboots - When I put it on my hair I stick a teaspoonful in a plastic tub and microwave it on defrost for a minute.

First time I've ever shared hair styling tips with a horse.

I don't like coconut oil at all.

I also dislike coconut water and coconut flour (very fibrous. ahem)

I do love coconut ice-cream though.

I remember when Mane 'n' Tail was all the rage so maybe there's summut in it. My skin is soooo much better then it was. The oil has definitely calmed and moisturised it. I keep a jar by the bath so there is always a liquid layer on top.
