Best fake tan?

For ghastly pale (ginger complexion) legs and arms that's not gradual and won't streak? I'm totally useless with it but can't catch a tan naturally and fed up of awful corned beef skin on my legs! Also preferably not one of those wash off like normal makeup yokes please. Sorry quite the list there but any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Cocoa Brown is the best mousse tan. Subtle and natural. Superdrug do it.

Amber Solaire 'no streaks' gel streaks horrendously when applied with fingers but is great when applied with a proper tanning mitt.

St Moriz is also good, and a bargain.

For pale skin I would go for St. Tropez mousse or dry oil. It's more expensive but you definitely get what you pay for with St Tropez, gives the most even and natural looking colour and blends very well over elbows, hands and knees. St Tropez gradual tan is great for a more subtle look - I use it for my legs but go for the oil on face and arms.

There was a TSV (Todays Special Value) on QVC yesterday (my pesky computer won't let me search) for a fake tan (body + face, two bottles) invented by a hairdresser in Scotland.
It's drops to add to your usual moisturiser.
He said he knew all about being peely-wally wink

I bought St Tropez mousse last year (no sun on my holiday hmm Rain 24/7) it worked well.

It's not a fake tan as such more of a body lotion with a bit of gradual fake tan built into it but I really love Dove Summer Glow. They have a fair one and a darker one but it builds up gradually. It's really hard to have a disaster with this as its so gradual -great if you aren't used to fake tanning.

Second Cocoa Brown fan, its cheap as chips and looks great on. I always apply with 2 gloves as you have to work fast - wears away evenly as well

I like Dove Summer Glow too, but I always have a 'proper' fake tan on the go too. Quite like St Tropez, but will now try Cocoa Brown. I can't stand sprays. Or rather I can't stand the excess spray all over the bathroom!

Thanks guys, going to try Coco as like I said in OP don't really like gradual tanners (too sticky and time consuming, DS is two don't have half an hour every morning after shower to hang about waiting for lotion to dry but could do once a week with a proper fake tan)

Xen-tan is brilliant. I've tried every fake tan going and nothing comes close in my opinion. More expensive than some but a tube last ages, not a hint of orange and it smells lovely too!

Maybe I wasn't clear but Dove Summer Glow is a body lotion. So you just use it like a body lotion, get dressed and forget about it. Then 24 hours later = lightly bronzed!

It's not sticky or time consuming. Highly recommend.

Was just going to say Xen-tan. Think it often comes out top of reviews. I use the gradual one (am very fair) which might not suit you, but it takes seconds to put on and I get dressed almost straight away. They do 'normal' fake tan too.

St Tropez daily tanner has the most AWFUL smell.
I do have a very acute sense of smell though.

Sorry I've tried the dove stuff last year and didn't like it at all, you still have to put it on every day and I find it takes ages to sink in. Great if it works for you though!

Several people have recommended Sienna X to me but I've yet to try it. I'm too frightened of ending up streaky/orange!

I have some St Tropez cream, has a lovely floral smell.
DD has applied two layers (Sat/Sun) with a mitt. Really nice natural colour.

RoobyTuesday Mon 02-May-16 21:42:32

I tried cocoa brown after seeing it recommended on here but found it to be very patchy and it didn't last very long. Applied with a mitt as well but no good for me - shame because the price is so good.

I am very pale and like dove summer glow but only the dark one, two applications is enough for me to look properly sun kissed. The pale skin formulation is too peachy (orange) coloured.

I faffed about with gradual tanners for ages, they are fine if you moisturise everyday anyway but I don't so for me they were a waste of time.

I discovered st moritz medium mousse last week. I just got back from Thailand and wanted to even out my awful tanlines (I'm part ginger so I just burn anyway) - it's great!

Buff in all over before bed, put on old pjs, shower off in the morning. Looks nice and natural, cheap, doesn't smell and you only have to do it once a week!
