What should I wear for lunch in Michelin star pub?

I have no idea! I don't want to be too dressy as it is a pub but then it's a fancy pants pub so I guess my New Look skinnies and Vans aren't going to look right either!

I'm a size 14 apple. I don't really want to buy anything especially but just after some ideas really.

What kind of things do you LIKE to wear?

Do you like dresses or are you more of a trousers kind of person?

Do you wear heels, or would you rather have some slightly-dressier-than-Vans-flats?

If you are going to buy something it should be something that
a - makes you feel good
b - you will want to wear again
c - has room at the waist in case you eat quite a lot of lovely foood....

If it's the hand and flowers then you'd be surprised at how relaxed it is. I'd wear smart dark jeans with a silk t shirt and a blazer or a relaxed tunic-shaped dress. Nothing too tight on the waistband to make room for all of that amazing food!

Excellent point re loose waistband! Hadn't thought of that. I like dresses and low heels. Not really a trousers girl (except jeans). I have a Lindybop fit and flare tea dress thing which is a little too big for me, but I could just tie the belt a bit tighter and loosen after eating? I don't have heels to go with it is all... It's mustard colour and I usually wear with brown tights. Brown leather ballet pumps?

Option B is skinny jeans and long sleeved floaty top from Yumi and either ballet pumps or boots depending on weather.

I might try them both on before we go and see which looks nicest... Is Option A (Lindybop dress) going to make me look overdressed? It's not a very dressy dress iyswim.

I would go for jeans. Pretty it up with nice earrings, bangles, make up etc.

You could Google image the pub and see what pics there are I did this with a place I went to recently - I'd forgotten that no one dresses up anymore

I think I should wear jeans too, but the waistband in the dress is much more forgiving. Could wear it with brown knee boots so not too dressy? A novel idea would be not to overeat of course, but odds are I will a bit. I don't get to go to these places very much so I like to make the most of it.

I'm doing 5:2 at the mo, so maybe today's fast day will make me somehow slim enough for jeans to be comfortable tomorrow .

I have bigger jeans in my wardrobe but they require a tight belt or will fall down. Think it's my shape - no bum, chubby tum.

Lunch is pretty relaxed in most restaurants - I think the danger would be overdressing, not under. Anything that doesn't look like you're trying too hard will be fine!

Thanks shove. I think the dress with boots will be ok - I would wear it to my local pub or round to my nan'a house as it's not dressy. I think I'd end up feeling and looking uncomfortable in the jeans if I ate a big meal and was trying to sit up straight and look decent while. I'd end up tugging at the waist band and would ruin my occasion.

I will try on both options just before I go though, just in case I've magically shrunk overnight ha!

I don't think any of the other diners would enjoy their lunches either if I rocked up naked! Don't want to get chucked out before I've even had my starter.

I wouldn't wear jeans, I have always worn a tea-style dress & ballet pumps when I have been to Michelin star places and I was never overdressed

If it is Michelin Star the food will taste great but it won't be a gut buster! if the jeans are not too tight to begin with you will be fine in them.

I would have thought that too but the one lunch I've ever had at a Michelin starred place ended up being big because there were so many extra bit in between courses (and of course we said YES to the cheese trolley).

True of a restaurant but not necessarily of a pub! I know OP isn't going to the H&F but it's my only point of reference - when I went the portions were seriously generous.

I went to the pub today. I wore the tea dress with a cardi and flat boots. I think I looked pretty ok and wasn't overdressed - I saw a few people in suits and some in jeans so it was a bit of a mix. I had a seriously delicious meal and feel pretty full - think I made the right choice not to wear the skinnies! I wish I'd had cheese now though . Had a pudding instead. Oh well. Next time!

Ive been to the dorchester and i rang and asked if i could wear uggs as it was snowing.

When i got there, all the upper class were dining in uggs.

If a michelin star place is that picky, and the dorchester isnt, id not go.
