Hello. I had some great advice on here a few weeks ago. I thought I might try showing pics of items I've got so far - it needs slimming down to be a bit more capsule.

It's for a week in the sun all inclusive to Greek island in early June. I have 2 preschoolers.

Shoes are these plus white Birkenstocks and navy Havanas.

Will have to add the tops tomorrow!

So far
One navy t shirt
One white t shirt
One navy vest
One white vest
One yellow vest
One yellow smarter top
One navy smarter top

I have a smart white Calvin Klein summer dress I might take but I'm not sure how smart I'll need to be in the evenings

I've just got back from 10 days in Cypus where I went with my friend and our 7 year old sons. Having not had a holiday since before I had my son, I wasn't sure what to take. Lessons learned:

  1. Take more casual clothes than going out clothes. We tended to have lunch or tea out, we didn't go out in the evening very much at all due to the boys being starving by 6pm! We tended to spend our evenings drinking wine outside our villa while the boys were in bed. Maybe as you have 2 preschoolers you will end up doing the same!
  2. One pair of jeans/long trousers is enough. Tended to wear shorts in the day if going on the beach, or short dresses if doing day trips. Only wore long trousers once.
  3. Take plenty of casual vest tops especially if you don't have access to a washing machine (we did thankfully). They get sandy, stained with Suncream etc, and as they weigh next to nothing you can afford to pack more.
  4. Don't forget to pack Talc to get sand off feet! Thats one thing I forgot to pack and it would have prevented moaning!!

thanks good tip about the talc

Was it hot enough to not need layers at all? We're going to Crete in early June and it's hard to envisage it being hot enough!

Yes it was absolutely glorious weather. High 70's, low 80's every day. The temperature dropped a bit at night but it was still definitely not coat weather. A light layer was fine. Make sure you also have a lightweight cover up for when you have had enough sun. I got a couple from Primary which were great.

I'd definitely take loads more dresses than that. I don't take more than a couple of sets of skirts/tops/trousers) when I go somewhere hot. I much prefer to wear dresses all day/night. It'll probably be pretty hot there even in June, can easily reach high 20s/30+. But that's just me - I can't bear the tightness and heat of things round my waist in hot weather.

You can fit loads more dresses into a suitcase than lots of separate tops/bottoms too.

I went away for 10 days last year, similar aged kids. I wore (rather than took!), 2 bikinis, 2 cover ups, 3 dresses (alternated in evenings), cropped trousers, 3 floaty vests, 3 shorts with 4 tshirts. Most of the time was spent by the pool/on the beach so I wasn't in clothes long enough to get dirty...

Wow, what a lot of stuff. Greece in June will be hot and peak UV. Thick trousers to travel in not good. Two skirts, a few tops, two sets swimwear (one goes in shower with you at night ), rash vest for swimming, sun hat, 7 pairs knickers (change after evening shower), one pair light trousers to travel in, two pairs shorts.

No washing needed. For you at least !

If it were me I would take seven day dresses, four evening dresses. One pair of chinos and two vests, two bikinis and one cover up. One glitzy sandal, two pairs of day flip flops

Thanks people. By day dresses do people mean beach cover ups or proper dresses?

Dresses ? It will be hot and sweaty. Take one or two skirts and more tops. You only need one cover up.

Greece in June. Peak UV. Lovely time with flowers and long evenings, enjoy!

I find dresses wonderfully cool. I take several of the Blackberry dresses from Boden and wear with flats. Easy and good to go. They have loads of other comfy styles too.
I find tops and skirts/shorts make me far more hot

I'd only take long trousers if I was planning on visiting churches as some require shoulders and knees to be covered. Otherwise, shorts all the way!

I have some dresses from Gap that are cheaper and slightly shorter but similar to the Blackberry dresses from Boden that are brilliant for thowing on over a bikini to go to the beach and then lunch, wander round, general daywear really.

I would take a couple of those and then pair of cropped jeans and similar length in thinner cotton, few vests/tops, one or two pairs shorts, couple of light but nicer dresses and little cardigans to wear in the evening. And that would be about it, apart from a couple of bikinis, flip flops and maybe some trainers or walking sandals. Any more than that and I bring loads back unworn.

I would travel in the cropped jeans, vest and cardi or only take longer jeans if I'm not confident its going to be hot.
