Help me find a necklace for £250ish

So I have some reward points from work for service, and I wanted to treat myself to a necklace. Something fairly classic, perhaps with a slight bit of sparkle, in gold. Can be worn casually, but would be smart for (rare!) nights out/ weddings etc.

I ordered this www.monicavinader.com/ava-button-necklace/gold-vermeil-ava-button-necklace-diamond but it's very disappointing. The diamonds in the photo are in definite circles, whereas in real life you can't see the circle pattern and in certain lights, they look like brushed steel. There is very little sparkle. The gold is also quite orangey. Shame as the reviews made it sound perfect.

I am going to return it, but still want to get something along these lines. I'm going to have a good google over the next few days, but does anyone have any recommendations of sites to look at?

I hate buying gold online for this very reason- you never get a true idea of the tone/colour.

Bloomingdales has a good selection of modernist/easy to wear gold jewellery. I went on to link a couple of examples but there's too many that I like!!!

I have this necklace from Soremi which people comment on all the time. It's personalised with my children's names and it's beautiful!

I love it. It was a present for my 40th and is personalised with a message from my children so it's really precious to me. It is beautiful and the gold is a lovely colour. I've bought a few things since from Soremi and have loved every one. I also find the customer service and communication to be excellent.

Go for it...its only a little over budget!

what colour do you have? Gold or White gold...?

I have just bought my DD a cross in silver from Theo Fennell. They have stones in them and are decorated with a dragonfly. Not gold, but a lot classier from a decent maker.

Was about to say Monica Vinader, I love the orangey gold (reminds me of proper Chinese 24ct bangles).

Have you looked at Astley Clarke?

Sorry - one last question if you don't mind Scarlett.....is your one the one to the right in the picture on the link? Does it have a slight gold tinge to it? Reason I ask is that my wedding and engagement ring is white gold and is silver coloured yet the scroll necklace on the right looks a lovely pale gold colour.....

Hmm, that's a tricky one...going by the photos I'd guess that the paler one is the white gold. Mine is the yellow gold, but actually looks much paler in real life than the yellow one in the photo!

If your rings are white gold why not go for the White gold necklace? It would look gorgeous. You could also email the designer on the website with any queries. I did a few times and she couldn't have been more helpful. Each piece is made to order but if you want anything in a hurry, she's happy to oblige.

Thanks Scarlett, I think I will email her. I'll need to return the MV one first, get my reward points back though before I can order anything! Thanks for your help!!

Still open to suggestions though, although I have to say, the Soremi one is very tempting!!
