What is a loafer slipper

FIL has asked for loafer slippers for his Birthday. Are these the same as moccasin slippers?

What the heck is a bloody loafer and why can't I just get him a bottle of wine as usual?

The kind of thing Tod's do would be called a loafer slipper.

If he's looking for a slipper for wearing around the house Barbour do them too.
