Help me find a shirt dress suitable for a pear! (pretty please!!)

I love a shirt dress and there are loads about at the moment but have come to the sad realisation that the classic straight shirt dress does nothing for me. I am on the lookout for a full-skirted shirt dress which will hopefully be more flattering to my pear shape. I am size 10 top size 12 bottom. Pretty classic pear, modest of nork. Love blue, greeny blue, green, purple, black probably less keen on pink, orange, yellow or red. Thinking plainer than too patterned although I do love a good print so open to ideas. Something like broderie fabric could work.

Thinking of a shape something like this pic although red tones not ideal for my colouring. Open to sleeveless, short or three quarter length sleeves.

Thanks in advance for the inspiration!

Hobbs black

Hobbs blue

Monsoon but it's linen, so would probably crease to high Heaven.

Ooh love both those Hobbs ones but a bit ££££ for me. Definitely the kind of shape I am after though.

I have bought a fab one from Boden. It is perfect for a pear. They do plain denim, plain white, blue and white pattern and yellow and white pattern. I bought the plain denim. Size up if you're not sure, as I am flat chested and there is no extra room in the chest even for me. They do it in regular and petite fit. It is butkn through, no gapes at all, cap sleeves. It comes with a fabric belt but you could add any number of belts for a different look. There aren't belt loops though.

Emily and Fin =- mentioned in another thread today - do cotton shirt dresses which fit me & I'm a similar shape to you. Also Seasalt. You can find Boden shirt dresses on Ebay readily - they do them every year so lots available.

Boden dress arrived today. Sadly the search continues as I think something about the dress on makes me look somewhat matronly/frumpy. Sob!

Perhaps it's time for me to accept that as much as I love shirt dresses they don't love me.

Boden dresses usually look frumpy on me - their proportions don't work with my shape plus they often use thickish fabrics. Other brands with similar styles work much better with my shape - must have slighly different proportions - & Emily & Fin & Seasalt, as mentioned before, use lighter fabrics which drape better on my curves - but its also worth looking for tea dresses as the style you showed is sometimes described as that rather than as a shirt dress.

Sorry to hear that Penguin. It's annoying when something you really want doesn't quite fit the bill.

M&S Autograph have a nice black shirt dress, I'm a pear and it suits me surprisingly well.

Thanks for the tips - you have renewed my faith and the quest goes on! About 5 years ago now I thought I had found the perfect if slightly snug black shirt dress in H+M. Imagine my chagrin when it turned out that slightly snug actually meant unwearably tight when not worn on my skinniest of skinny days. I have even bought a sewing pattern for a shirt dress but my skills are not really up to snuff just yet. Once -if-- I find my holy grail dress I will wear it to death Smile

Thanks for the tip on searching for tea dresses Djangor my wedding dress was tea length so maybe it's a sign Grin

It's described as a shirt dress but not exactly what I had in mind. What do you think of this from Debenhams? Would it look weird with the top button undone? Not mad keen on it done right up to the neck but like the style and shape of the skirt.
