Use products as directed by the stylist, or read the labels and follow the instructions, surely?

Or are you asking for something in special code?

Yep donkey that's what I'm going to do and no I'm not asking for something in code, as you say. What I'm asking for is advice from people who use the curly hair hair method, particularly those who have wavy curly hair. Simple

Ooooh if you hair is wavy can you post a pic? My hair is like an 80s perm and I've been debating going to him...
Please!

Mine is wavy. I tend to wash and condition, put some curl stuff on, plop for at least half an hour and then it air dry.

I'm a bit sick of it at the moment and am about it to get lots cut off, so I'm not doing proper curl stuff at the moment. I tend to wash condition, towel dry and leave to its own devices. This makes it go frizzy, though.

All his online stuff is "really" curly so I just want to see what is more realistic!

Why have you included the name of the salon in thread title?

Report
JasperDamerel · 08/04/2016 18:34

Because he's known as the go-to hairdresser for people with curly hair, and people who recognise the name will tend to generally be quite interested in the specifics of caring for curly hair.

With waves, you tend not to have such a problem with dryness, so you can shampoo more often than you can with curls.

Well I too went here after reading all the rave reviews and was really disappointed. I came out with what looked like an old lady perm and my hair plastered to my head. I can't say I'll be going back. For £60 it was crap tbh

Here's the pic of my hair after visiting Matthews salon. As you can see I'm wavy haired and old and grey but I'm happy with it. - the hair - and the age 😀
Ps Bibbity i've not named the salon in the title - only the name of the owner

flourish I had Danny - I'll rephrase that - Danny did my hair. He's lovely and I thought he did a good job. My cousin, with curly hair had Matthew and she liked how he did hers

Looks lovely. I'm quite curly, spirally. I want quite a bit cut off. Are you CG uphill?

Pisssed did you tell them you didn't like the cut? X

I'm sure the cut was great it was how I left the salon that nearly had me in tears

Uphill that does look lovely, I suspect mine would be more that PO's that would upset me too!

Pissed what's CG? I can see what you mean, perhaps it would be better softer and looser on you

Flourish my hair was a mess before I went - I'd spent years of having it layered or blow dried straight to stop the kinky wavyness getting too mad. It was like a cottage loaf - two tiered, and I was trying to grow this mess out. Given this I think Danny has done a great job and it feels like it can now go its own way

CG is a method using conditioner which is sulphate and silicone free to wash hair, no shampoo, lots of curly people use it and a lot of clients who go to matts salon are CG and i assume the products they use are too x

I get it, now. I'm not wholly CG but Ive been using sls free shampoo and conditioner for a few years as I've a sensitive scalp. I'm going to get the cg book and have a go at following it. Any recommendations and a advice anyone?

I've had my hair cut by Matt a few times he's always advised using sulphate free shampoo rather than co washing.

Why shouldn't the OP mention the salon name? They've done a good job, she's pleased with it (rightly) and it may be of benefit and interest to other people with tricky dos.

Im new to it myself haha. The yes to carrots/blueberries/coconuts range is good although I've not tried. I used boots curl creme and ky jelly for styling x

Pissed I have a friend with hair and features very similar to you.

She has a short blunt end messy bob; so in your photo hide the bits lower than you ears and a sort of diagonal fringe. I think curls help a bob which are just to high maintenance if you have to constantly straighten.

Apologies if you've already been down that road.
