Fake tan!

Shortandsweet20 · 29/03/2016 22:07

I'm looking for a fake tan as I am fed up of being pale!
I've tried a few, st moriz, Lauren's way, and a loreal one. But I haven't fell in love with any yet!

I want a natural looking tan (I know it is hard to achieve with some) and something that won't resemble tiger bread after one shower!

Any recommendations would be great! Grin

I've tried them all and St Tropez is the most natural looking one that gives the best finish - no streaks, not at all orange etc. I use either the mousse or the body oil, both are good but be sure to apply with gloves. The St Tropez gradual tan is also very good for a lighter look.

I laughed at the tiger bread reference!

Coco Brown was recommended on here last year and it's very good. I bought it because I am easily led but it's great. Quick drying mousse.

I love the Garnier Summer body lotion. It's a gradual tanner so almost impossible to make mistakes, doesn't smell of biscuits and comes in light or dark.

I bought St Tropez last year (a last minute pre holiday trip to Tesco to buy one)

I have the cream and a mitt ( the colour does get through so I wear a vinyl glove under the mitt) .
Not tried all over, just legs and arms (the bits that show)
I have the St Tropez bronze powder for my face.

It survived swimming and showering pretty well.

Fake Bake Fair is my go to tan. Love it.

I tried Hi Shi gradual tan and it's awful.

I've tried lots but always go back to St Trpoez bronzing mousse or the St Moritz 1-3 hour mousse.

These days I tend to opt for the St Moritz given it is £26 cheaper and to be honest I think it is just as good.

For a natural tan I apply for 1.5 hours then wash off

I've read some really good reviews on Skinny Tan. I've not tried it yet but I think it is on offer in Superdrug at the moment.

I really like St tropez dark which despite its name doesn't actually go that dark just a nice shade. The only problem is its green so you look the Incredible Hulk when you have it in!
I've just bought some cocoa bronze, I've never used it before but plan to put it on tonight so will report back!

Will be interested to see what you think buttwing - I bought cocoa brown last year after reading about it on here and didn't rate it much, it seemed to dry my skin out and didn't last very long at all.

The St Tropez "in shower" one that came out last year is good. Just follow the instructions and watch the video first and you'll be fine.
I've just ordered some St Tropez Gradual Tan, that gets good reviews and is on offer in Superdrug

l'oreal sublime is one I keep going back to. I don't like st. moritz. I like the garnier summer body lotion - can build up the colour but I always go back to l'oreal and lots of friends do too

Thanks for the suggestions, think I'll try the st tropez one - is the dry oil hard to see where you've put it on?

Also, how do you go about doing your hands? I can never get it right

St tropez lotion is £15 on Amazon.

Lightly wipe it over your hands with a make up sponge or similar.

Avoid soltan, it's rubbish.

I like Dove Summer Glow moisturiser with self tan.

I use the medium to dark one even though I am very fair, as finds it gives a really nice natural colour.

Very easy to apply too and so far I haven't had any nasty streaks/patches etc.

I tried the St Tropez in shower stuff and it was absolutely crap, didn't change my colour in anyway and I had to stand around freezing cold when applying and waiting before jumping back in the shower.

I prefer the St Moriz cream rather than the mousse now, it's not as drying but gives a great colour.

Ok so I tried cocoa brown on my legs. It's nice, I'm going to do the rest of my body tonight so will be able to tell properly as I usually just do the bits people see!

The St Tropez body oil is easy to see where you put it on as it has a bronze colour. I really like it as it's very moisturising and doesn't have that funny fake tan smell.

Buttwing did you use a Mitt to put it on? When I used it it did give a good colour, just didn't last very long before it went all patchy

Do you know rooby I was just coming on to say I've just been shopping and when I was trying on in Zara (God their lighting is unflattering!) I had a good look at my legs and I wasn't impressed! Very uneven and I would say I'm pretty good at applying fake tan. I'd exfoliated and I used a mitt so I'm not sold on it.

I'm a big St Moriz fan and find the foam version works best.

What do you mean about where to stop? I use the same tan on my neck / face so don't stop (if that makes sense!)
