I'm sure it's a load of tosh but has any one used minced garlic in a bottle of polish? Any one got any good results - I'm not holding out much hope but my nails are atrocious so will give anything a go.

What on earth is it meant to do?

Is it supposed to be an anti fungal or something? I would have thought the chemicals in the polish would kill anything useful in the garlic

Hmmm it's supposed to promote extra strong/quick nail growth but I don't really know how. I know garlic has antiseptic qualities so maybe healthier nails grow quicker ??
I don't really know why my nails are so naff atm. ( I'm having a bad hair day most days too so probably related )
I won't do the Gel/acrylic nails as I know I won't be faffed with the up keep or cost.
Any other ideas greatly fully received !

No that won't do anything at all but give you smelly hands.
The best things you can do are use a high quality cuticle oil every single day and rub it into the nail and cuticle.
Wear gloves when washing up or cleaning
Regularly file them to keep them a neat appropriate edge and only file in one direction.
There are treatments if they are seriously bad. CND rescue RXX is a nail strengthener oil you massage in daily and gives amazing results.
For really weak and damaged nails go to salon that does IBX. It's an in salon treatment that penetrates the nail and repairs damage and delamination.

I use almond oil on my nails, it makes a huge difference to their strength and condition. Also if your hair is bad too, you may be run down. It would be worth taking b vitamins or a skin nail and hair supplement.

I think the only useful effect would be that you could fight off vampires by poking them. Grin

Sounds bizarre. Wouldn't you have lumpy bits attached to your nails?

Yeah, kind of what I thought. I shall have a look into some more tried and tested methods. Cheers
