I am 36, 5.1, size 12/14 bum, size 8-10 top. I have hideous legs and excess skin after having weight loss surgery and losing a lot of weight. (Sound lovely don't I!)

I have been convinced to go on a night out with some Mums from school for my and another mums birthday we are going for food then out to a wine bar/night club.

WTVF can I wear I don't want to look over dressed or underdressed. No jeans and too tall heels as I can't walk well in them!

Please help me!

Oh and I need to cover my shoulder up as having surgery on it a few weeks before.

Budget <200

Thank you!

Do you have any tulip shaped skirts? It would flatter your waist and cover up the bits you aren't so keen on. Go bolder on the top half (tighter/drapier/brighter) with sleeves to cover up your shoulder.

Thank you I have nothing to wear except my mum uniform!

I like this
www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Dresses/Dress_with_cocoon_skirt/46881-43150889.1#c-24480

it would work with chunky mid heels

Blueberry234 Fri 18-Mar-16 18:48:34

I like that but I think at 5.1 I may be a bit short

That Cos dress is lovely.

Why no jeans?

In Kim's nights out I've been on its a mix of dresses and tops and jeans.

I need to double check but the place we are going to has a dress code

Kenworthington Fri 18-Mar-16 19:12:03

Kenworthington Fri 18-Mar-16 19:12:14

I wonder if this Zara skirt would work (bear in mind it's on a really tall model so would be longer on you. I like this metallic one as well. Zara's Spanish which may help you as, in my experience (tall, smaller bottom half, wide shoulders, not much waist), Zara and fellow Spanish brand Mango don't design to my shape at all.

I'm struggling a bit to find any tulip shapes - they were big about five years ago and the fashion cycle has turned hmm. This from Benetton is plain but just interesting enough not to be dowdy and could be dressed up a lot. This from Topshop? There is a ton of wrap skirts out there which would do a similar thing to the tulip skirts but I always find them impossible to walk in without them flying open to my knicker line but maybe you have the knack.

fresta Fri 18-Mar-16 19:22:51

Magic knickers will hold any excess skin in round your tummy. My tummy is really flabby and wobbly after carrying a huge baby with excess skin and stretchmarks and they do a good job of making wobbly bits appear firm. I would go for a dress which is fitted at the top and ruched or drapey round the tummy. Wear with opaque tights to slim your legs.

Are any these any good?

I keep seeing Cos suggested on threads like this, but everything just looks like a big sack to me hmm.

Cos's clothes are brilliant but you do need height for most of them. They use really unusual fabrics such as very crisp structured cotton and felt, and they have great details such as statement zips or an odd bit of gathering. LOVE their clothes.

Blueberry234 Fri 18-Mar-16 20:10:27

Thank you I think I need to just shop!

Twinklestar2 Fri 18-Mar-16 20:17:21

I love that Topshop skirt!

Pinkcadillac Fri 18-Mar-16 20:43:52

This www.finerylondon.com/uk/products/sanford-obi-wrap-dress?taxon_id=6
would work with ankle boots

This skirt www.finerylondon.com/uk/products/belshaw-fold-a-line-skirt-1920aw1501mulberry?taxon_id=10 with a silky t-shirt

Blueberry234 Fri 18-Mar-16 20:46:09

I like that finery dress

fresta Fri 18-Mar-16 20:51:31

Sorry to hijack tour thread OP, but I love the look of this www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Tops/Concave_shape_knit_top/46885-37913115.1#c-24479. Will it disguise a wobbly tummy, or will I just look pregnant? I'm 5'7" and a size 12 if that helps, so tallish.

fresta Fri 18-Mar-16 20:55:20

Also is the Cos size guide correct, would a 12 be a small, it's usually medium in other stores?

lalalonglegs Fri 18-Mar-16 21:18:28

I'd say size 12 would be medium - it's 38 in their numbered sizing. That top would work if you have small frame - I don't think it suits the model very well, her breasts look very squashed. I think it's a real trier-inner.

fresta Fri 18-Mar-16 21:21:21

How do I know if I have a small frame?

fresta Fri 18-Mar-16 21:25:07

It says a medium is size 14-16? a 38 is equivalent to a small according to the size guide? Oh dear, I hope I'm not between sizes, I can't wear Karen Millen for this reason.

lalalonglegs Fri 18-Mar-16 21:35:43

I'm a 12, I am 5'9", I generally take a 38 and a medium (occasionally large as I've got big knockers). By small frame, I meant narrow shoulders, small rib cage etc (not me grin).

bishboschone Sun 20-Mar-16 14:50:29

Have you thought about a shirt dress with ankle boots and opaques ? I'm curvy and smaller on top than the bottom. They work really well for me and show off a waist .

Blueberry234 Sun 20-Mar-16 15:21:53

I hadn't but actually that could work I like opaque as they hide the hideousness that are my legs.
Thank you! Right on the hunt for a shirt dress? Would like be dressy enough
