Shorts...ugh

I'm about to go on holiday and need a few new warmer weather clothes.
Has anyone seen any nice shorts? I'm nearly 40, pear shaped, legs not my best feature. But recognise that shorts are useful in warmer weather/on holiday.

I have one pair of ancient denim shorts from Oasis. So something perhaps a bit smarter/softer than that, but which will look good with t-shirts. And internet trawl of my usual haunts is drawing a blank.

My normal style is quite casual. Not willing to spend more than £30 max on shorts.

Would these be a total disaster? www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0378720001.html

I know they are shorts but they look pretty short IYKWIM. I like how they look loose around the top of thigh though. (I'm nearly 40, size 14-16, pale corn beef legs and would never in a million years attempt to wear those shorts.) Sorry no useful advice but following with interest as my old favourite comfy capri pants have finally bitten the dust

They look lovely - with shorts its important to try on though as the length and cut is important but i firmly believe anyone can look great in the right short. That said I'm fair skinned and dont tan though and do find that khaki makes my legs look horrible. I usually go for navy, white or a red.

I am a similar shape to you and bought these the other day. At 57 I need longer length shorts and they tick all the right boxes.

Gap girlfriend shorts! Come in denim and not-denim flavour and are just normal shorts length (ie not hot pants or weird frumpy mid-thigh length) and not really tight in the thigh (I have, er, sturdy legs).

They seem very similar to their previous "sexy boyfriend" shorts, which were also v flattering (I have three pairs from a few years ago) but had a mortifying name.

Might go and see if they have any girlfriend shorts in Gap, sounds promising.

If your legs are not your best feature avoid khaki shorts or you will draw the comparison with the short fat one from it ain't arf hot mum!

Pick another colour!

Ha! OK! I like navy so will try to head in that direction!
