I'm going to transform myself - would anyone like to join me?

I need to get a grip and I think posting here might help me!

I need to lose some weight, concentrate on personal grooming and give myself a makeover, generally. I want to look and feel better and up my look at work.

Is anyone else interested in joining me?

My aims and ideas are (yours may be different):

Get my teeth bleached
Find out whether to (or how to) deal with my fairly new moustache FOR EVER
Ditto chin hairs
Sort out my fungal toenail
Get a new work wardrobe at some point
Get my nails gelled and keep them maintained
Give up sugar and carbs
Sleep enough, drink slightly less
Be happy!

I am generally, but I do need to look less like a hag, I have let myself go a bit and it's got to stop. Anyone else in?

Yes!!

Mine are also:

Teeth whitened
Maintain hair colour
Manicure regularly
Throw out all the tat from my wardrobe
Drunk more water
Cut right down on sugar (massive one)
invest in some higher quality shoes and accessories.

I've been doing this for a year! So far I've

Found a fabulous new hairdresser, and get it cut every 6 weeks
eyebrows threaded every 3 weeks
since september I've lost just over 3 stone
bought new makeup
reregistered with the dentist (phobic) and had a discoloured front filling replaced with white again

I'm making sure any new clothes I buy make me feel good and in colours that I feel confident in. I feel so much better in myself, but do have a fair way to go to get back to the confident me of 15 years ago!

I will if it OK Smile

I need my teeth sorted - I have a denoisy appointment for Monday so hopefully can smile properly soon.

Declutter wardrobe and replace some very old jumpers and jeans.

Finally have grown my nails after years of biting so would like a manicure but bit scared.

Same with eyebrows.

Seen a hairstyle that I would love.

Need to find out my colouring so I can sort out what colours in clothes and make up I suit so I can look a bit more put together.

Sort out my shoes and finally figure out what I can wear with skirts.

I have a fabulous hairdresser but I think I need a change of style
Must make a dentist appointment and ask about whitening

I was in a meeting with 2 fabulously well groomed women this week and thought I MUST sort this out!

I work in a posh area with a bunch of rich yummy mummies. Blush

Even though I'm not overweight, and I think I have good taste, I definitely feel as if I don't measure up in terms of dress and grooming. They just look well-cared for?

Not having as much money doesn't help (single, starting out in new career), but i would feel better if I made as much effort as I could.

Rich yummy mummies are hard to compete with - times + money = well groomed, so often.

Well done MrDarcy

Thanks all

I live in a pretty well off area too (am not) and am recently divorced, so just trying to find myself again really!

Got a bit further to go with the weightloss, but am feeling and looking much healthier!

I also have next to no budget by the way!

Oooh...is Babyliss any good for fine, wavy hair? Or is it only for making waves out of thick, straight hair, IYSWIM?

I'd love something that put some body in my hair. I have a fair amount if it, but it is baby-fine and wavy in a messy way, so I straighten the hell out if it every day before work. And then it's flat.

Re: yummy mummy colleagues.

Yes, we're talking expensive designer shoes, perfect nails, hair always freshly coloured and cut, quality bags, whopping diamond solitaire engagement rings. Etc.

Frankly, I will never have the cash to compete with that. But I'd like to look groomed and stylish and healthy, within my own budget, if that makes sense.

Koala that's what I'm aiming for too Smile I'm mum to 6 and studying for a degree so there isn't much spare money at the minute but I'd like to look a bit more professional and put together so when I'm finished I'll have more confidence when it comes to time for interviews and work. Smile

I'm really up for this.

The way I plan to help myself (and I am aware this sounds incredibly cringey) is that I have a person in mind who is like what I want to be like and when I do things I want to consider what she would do- would she eat an entire bar of dairy milk on a Friday night, probably not. But would she have one or two quality truffles from a nice shop as a treat, maybe. Would she do her exercise or sit in her arse watching shite on tv? Would she rather spend a few extra minutes on her hair or waste time checking Instagram, would she buy crap cheap clothes instead of waiting and buying lasting, flattering items, never etc etc

Everything body wise is a bit in need of tlc at the moment so this has come at a good time!

(Disclaimer: obviously I can think for myself and stuff but I just need a kick in the right direction right now and if I can take the lead from someone I admire then so be it)

This is a great idea. I've been compulsively lurking here in this topic trying to feed the need for change. I feel really shabby coming out of winter this year, and I'm so tired of my clothes and makeup and shoes and lack of exercise routine. My goals:

Cut way way down on sugar consumption
Meet minimum recommendations for exercise per week
Maintain a decent pedicure
Dress so that I feel a bit 'dressed up' each day
Tone up arms, legs and mum tum

And I'll see where I go from there Smile

okay me too..... my goals sound much like all of yours- shifting some weight will go a long way to improving my self image. Going to get a big glass of water right now! those 2 biscuits I just ate will be my last in a while. I am going to aim to post here every day to keep my resolve up.

This sounds like the princessing threads from a few years ago, they had some good suggestions, I'll see if I can find it.
