Classy outfit for long-haul flight.

Going away in a couple of weeks and looking for something to wear for the flight (10hrs). It will be cold when we leave and hot when we arrive (and vice versa on the way home obviously) and of course it'll be alternately freezing and roasting on the plane!

I normally wear nice workout clothes - decent yoga pants, dri-fit yoga top and loose yoga sweater, with trainers. I want something smarter this time however but still needs to be comfortable for the long flight and suitable for the changes in temp. I have looked online at hot squash and I quite like this whole outfit but only the top is available - not the trousers. I would maybe wear a slouchy cardigan over the top or a love blazer and a comfy slouchy scarf.

Thoughts - suggestions - help?!?!

They're not a mumsnet fave to say the least but I always go with black leggings, & layers on top (to whip on and off accordingly). Usually a vest/cotton T with a shawl or jumper over the top. Shawl doubles up nicely as an extra blanket. My Marc Jacobs slip ons, a nice big bag & shades and I'm good to go. Flip flops in hand luggage if really hot at your destination.

I am flying long-haul soon and plan on wearing trousers pretty similar to these except they have some light blue through them:

with a black vest top, little knitted cashmere hoodie and black wedges. I’ll carry a pair of socks, converse type trainers and a shawl in my bag to deal with changing temperatures etc!

Those kind of trousers are so comfy because they are elasticated like jammies!

Leggings are comfortable but I think they're hard to style for the shift to the hotter weather clime at destination. If you have a comfortable pair I'd opt for chinos. You can then do layers and a blazer or Cardi and scarf. Put sandals in your bag for arrival. I wear smart simple warm wool house shoes (clog style) with proper soles on the plane. Just wear shoes for English weather to the airport and pack them before you hand over your luggage and slip into the clogs.

Sorry I don't get it. Just wear joggers and a jumper. Comfort is a must. No one looks reasonable on a long haul flight.

For long haul flights I usually wear a black jersey maxi skirt- roll top, super stretchy but still fairly elegant and good in hot climates. It's Splendid and I think I bought it from The Outnet, although Baukjen have one similar.

I then layer a longline vest, very light silk jersey top, biker jacket, oversized scarf (to double as blanket), wear ballet pumps in the UK and put a pair of flat leather sandals in my hand luggage to change into on arrival.

I had this dilemma on my recent business trip, first time long haul with two male colleagues, much much more senior than me. I stressed about it for weeks!
In the end I got a pair of those smart style "joggers" actually pass for loose trousers, floaty top & floaty cardie plus scarf, all from new look!

Last long haul flight, I wore next hareems, converse, a teeshirt and a sweat shirt.
I packed socks, an eye mask and a travel pillow. I slept for more than half the flight.

Sorry I don't get it either. Who cares what you look like crammed into your seat for ten hours. You'll arrive looking crumpled and feeling rough anyway. Unless you've got a bank of paparazzi waiting for you......have you?

Leggings or loose harem trousers with a loose oversize t-shirt, flat shoes (fleecy socks in bag to wear on flight) cardigan and/or shawl or pashmina. No make up, I put it on before we land otherwise it ends up feeling dry and horrible.

Blanket scarf is my favourite flying thing because it looks vaguely together but you can use it as a duvet. In fact in an ideal world all clothes should double as a duvet.

Next harem trousers for me too. With loose layers on top that can be removed and added without punching the person next to you in the head.

Style definitely comes second to comfort. Literally nobody will even look at you unless you punch them in the head trying to get a tight jumper off.

I travel long haul (up front) at least once a month for work. I always have a little giggle at those that have dressed up for the plane...seriously who could be arsed?!

Harems for comfort, a blanket shawl for temp control and flat shoes for all the walking will see you fine

If you're going to wear leggings, wear compression ones (2XU/Skins type) as you'll avoid puffy legs and somehow I think they help with jet lag?
I treat them like footless tights and stick an Icebreaker dress over them.
Harems don't suit me ever, I've bought a pair of capris from Fabletics* with a pleated/gathered front like harems but without the shit-yourself-pants element. They are the Yogi Capri.
Slip on shoes, useful for grotty plane loos and security.

*I hate their business model with all the subscription, it is possible to buy items singly though.

I wear jeans, ballet flats or boots, brightly coloured loose t shirt with matching scarf, with a wool biker jacket if it will be cold on arrival. But, I change into my pyjamas before take off, sleep and watch TV for a bit, then freshen up before landing.

Hush harems are your friend! Lots f nice colours at the moment too. Wash superbly, flattering and oh so comfy. I would wear these or leggings plus long length elbow length thickish tee. White company are good. Large scarf, long loose cardigan. Then thick socks in bag for flight. Sandals or ballet pumps for landing. Converse type shoes or ankle boots this end.
