SOTD - Paul Emilien Carrousel

I looooove this. Peppery, fruit, floral & sweet but not cloying at all. Excellent sillage, I put it on 3 hours ago and it hasn't dropped at all. Tried this first with a tester from Bloom and had to have it.

Hello.Smile

That sounds lovely.

I'm still wearing Niki de StPhalle - and enjoying it very much, in its green angles and edges glory.

I also am still finding it hard to come to terms with the ending of the M and S/Lyn Harris collaboration.

There's still some bottles to be had on ebay thecat :-)

SOTD Shay and Blue London English Cherry Blossom. I don't normally like cherry blossom or cherries, but this is lovely. Gorgeous packaging too.

Love cherry blossom in bloom, but I didn't think it was particularly scented; what am I missing? The 4160 Tuesday scent called something like Tokyo Cafe is my only reference point. I like cherries too, but as food. I shall have a sniff next week in a big M&S.

Excellent, a new thread!

I am wearing another old favourite today - Chanel's Coco. Normal Coco though, not that Madmemoiselle one which is far too sweet - my sister bought some for me and I tried, I really did but it's too sugary for me.

Normal Coco though is still lovely, lasts all day and reminds me of my mid-late twenties!

I'm experimenting with my JHAG sample box. Moon Dance is good, but gives me horrendous Van Morrison earworm, and that is a definite drawback!

flighty I love Chanel Coco! I ordered it for my birthday so DH could give it to me. I was so afraid I would end up with Coco Mademoiselle, which is every bleedin' where.

Thanks for the new thread! Sadly no perfume today, have been way too busy.

Found you! I like Moondance too (and can live with the involuntary Van Morrison soundtrack). Wore Gentlewoman to a wedding this weekend and it felt about right for occasion/mood/weather/season (but lost the sample during the course of the day :().

Love MoonDance (and Van). Also Another Oudh, Miss V and Gentlewoman. Not so sure about the rest.

I've got a JHAG kit on the way...can't wait to try!

Does anyone have any recommendations for Maison Francis Kurkdijan or Roja Dove?

And whilst we're finding our olfactory twins on this thread, Cresset - can you remember what else came up on your Nose diagnostic?

Report
cressetmama · 04/03/2016 10:34

I did it at least twice MrsC, once for the light ethereal side, once for the sillage monsters. From the lighter end, my favourite has been Creed's Aqua Fiorentino (rhubarb and flowers), which I liked enough to get a 10ml decant (now almost empty). I also liked Tokyo Bloom (Different Company), an ELdO Fils de Dieu (but I had the complete sample set before) and Apom Femme (Francis Kurkijian nice but not compelling IIRC). I also liked Greene Street (Etro) and a couple of others a Frapin, but the sample bottle got tossed and I have forgotten which it was, but it was a number title.

Much less successful on the dark side, but the 11Semma came in that as did Cuir Velours (okay, but I still have some of their sample so not a rave) and a couple by Keiko Mecheri which I didn't get at all, although sniffing the spray end this morning as I write this, I might give Paradise Lost another go.

At different times, I have sampled most of the CdG range via Nose (because I bought an FB of Serpentine from them). I also liked Black Angel from Mark Buxton, who did the original CdG scent which probably set me on this path, and which I adore to this day. I like the quirkiness of their scents.

Dear me, sorry to bore on. Must walk dog now; she has been very patient!

SoTD is La Myrrh EDP (SL) which a kind person (Toys) sent me in a swap, which I have overlooked. I am rather taken with it, in an oudh-y way.

La Myrrh is stunning, even if I can never spell it.

Chypre 21, Heeley

Liked it more first thing, crisp and green with a hint of original Miss Dior somehow. Not so keen now. I still feel very grown up and sophisticated, but it's gone a bit aftershavey and less "green"

Yesterday was Seville a' l'aube which I bought because of you lot! Was very surprised at how long it lasted, I imagined something more ethereal.

Branleuse · 04/03/2016 11:56

i have seville a laube in a sample box of lots of different 'artisan. Its quite nice isnt it. Orangey -amber. maybe a bit too amber for me. I think it would be nice in the summer

Report
thecatfromjapan · 04/03/2016 12:10

Seville a l'aube reminds me of original formulation Obsession, though more pared down and less shouty. I was surprised when I tried it because it has a slight 80s vibe. I liked it, though.

I'm wearing Atelier's Vanilla Incensee today, with a spray of Sahara Noir underneath, to give it a bit more heft. I think it's helping to keep a cold wind at bay!

ThenLaterWhenItGotDark · 04/03/2016 13:16

Really Cat? I wa obsessed with finding Obsession in 1986, living in Spain and trawling round chemists with the first advert and scented strip in my paws (the one with the threesome) I had to wait until 87 for my first bottle I think. The new one smells very sweaty somehow. I might try and nab an old bottle from ebay.

Chypre 21 is getting more and more Brut 33 as the day wears on.

I was looking at Chypre 21 (and all the Heeleys) yesterday as I plotted what to smell next week in London. You are putting me off a bit!

La Myrrh is rather gorgeous after an hour or two; it's shot into the category of SL favourites on the strength of two squirts. Definitely a contender for a 10ml decant.
