I'm coming up 40, 5ft6, fairly slim but biggish boobs (36d), fat bum and thighs.
Since I'm going off on a spa break with friends, I'm thinking of splashing out and treating myself to some decent swimwear. Apart from a burkini to hide my awful backside, what would you recommend and where to buy? (I found a nice tankini on boden but the bottoms won't be in stock until after my trip Angry)

Try Swimwear365. You can mix and match the tops and bottoms and the tops have different cup sizes.
Much better value and quality than Boden, imo Wink

Have you tried bikini shorts or a skirt? There are lots around and it avoids the problem of having to continuously hoik your swimsuit down to cover the cheeks of the bum. I'm speaking from experience of an ample rear.Smile

Accessorise bikinis are gorgeous and an absolute bargain if you can find one in the sale

Fig leaves are great because you buy by bust size. Please don't but a skirt though - they just draw attention to the fact that you're self conscious about your arse

Thanks for the swimwear365 recommendation - I like shorts and bikini top or tankini, I know the MN line that people stare when you cover up but I don't care - I hate bikini bottoms on my flabby arse...so I will continue to cover up!

Find a top that draws attention to your vava voom . plain bottoms that cover, not shorts they could draw attention to that area.

I think you wanted a tankini?
This is cup sized, on sale and is easy to match with different bottoms:

Thanks. I like the fig leaves and leia ones. Think I might get a bikini and tankini. (Tankini for spa and bikini for summer hols when I can whip a pair of shorts on before leaving my sun lounger Grin )
Not convinced about the bottoms though. I don't like the skirt things but am still tempted to shorts to cover the flab...

Tempted by the red one myself as its got bigger pants to hide my jelly belly at the gym.. I only wear small bikinis abroad, to scare the localsGrin I'm the wrong side of 45.

Try a Blouson on the top and swim shorts on the bottom. They are very flattering. Whereas a Tankini top is fitted, a Blouson top tends to be fitted over the boobs, but elasticated at the bottom, so it doesn't cling to your tummy. There aren't many about, but you should get one on Swimwear 365 or Littlewoods.

Here's what they look like:

Samantha Sage may be worth a look. You can mix and match if you want a particular look.

Check www.brastop.com for bargains. oh also, if you're otherwise slim, sure you need a 36 bra? I'm not slim and wear 30. Have you been MN bra intervened?

No, not 36, 34! My mistake. 30 seems v narrow though -my skinny mini 14 year old is in 32s. We were both m&s mesured. Do I need a mn intervention?!

yes you do. You are probably a 32 and she will need a 28 or thereabouts, if this is what M&S put you in. Measure yourself according to the instructions here thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.fr/p/fitting-advice.html

sorry 30 for you - M&S always adds 4 inches to the measurement, but there's no need for this.

M&S are crap at measuring for bras. Take DD and get both of you measured at John Lewis or Bravissimo.

I'm a 34F/FF and got a Freya swimming costume that FITS MY BOOBS. Amazing.

I also have a huge arse (!) and find that bikini briefs are more flattering than shorts... They sort of... break up the expanse! Grin

Ok, I will get measuring according to instructions. I'm not in the UK so can't get to JL or Bravissimo until summer. So glad I posted on here before splashing out on swimwear... Will report back after measurements done Smile

Brastop, Figleaves and Bravissimo all do, and many UK Ebay sellers (I also live in the country where bras some in A-C)
