Permanent red nose - help me!

No matter what I do I seem to have a permanently red nose as if I've been drinking. I do drink but not to excess and even a few months off booze last year didn't help.

I have quite oily skin and this seems to make it redder as the day goes on. It doesn't help that I'm pale so it stands out even more against my ghostly cheeks and forehead.

If I pile on the make up then it just gets spotty and makes it even worse in subsequent days.

Does anyone have any tips as I'm getting desperate. I work in a high pressure, public-facing job where appearance is key so I'm getting really self-conscious.

Rosacea? I think the GP could help here.

This is from the NHS website:

Although they are not thought to be direct causes of the condition, several triggers have been identified that may make rosacea worse. These include:
exposure to sunlight
stress
strenuous exercise
hot or cold weather
hot drinks
alcohol and caffeine
certain foods, such as spicy foods

I have this a bit and I like avon's colour correcter - also called cc cream. It's a foundation/tinted moisturiser. I find it hides the redness nicely and is approx £5 a tube, of you get it on 2 for £10, offers come up quite regularly in the book.

I am quite pale but I go for the one called shell.

What you need is a corrector for excesss redness you want a green corrector (don't be up off I know the colour looks frightening) these are applied before makeup, bb creams etc the green neutralises the redness. There are literally hundreds if brands and price points, your current makeup brand probably has one.

Hope that helps

I have rosacea and use Clinique anti-redness makeup - it's very good. (It's not green, this one).

The spots might be the rosacea too. I am on antibiotics at the moment for it and the zits are much better.

I have what looks like permanent sunburn across my cheeks and nose. Bit like this ---> Blush

I have acne rosacea and have a red nose even though I long ago managed the spots and no longer suffer with that. I use a very rich moisturiser and Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation.

You probably have rosacea but if you nose is permanently red a trip to the GP for a diagnosis is needed - you may also need prescription treatment.

Things you can do to help are minimizing products and religiously using sunscreen with physical block - but you need to know what you are dealing with first.

I finally got my rosacea (with similar red nose) sorted out last summer after seeing a dermatologist, referred by my GP. 2 months of antibiotics (Lymecycline ) and a cream called Finacea (15% azaelic acid) twice a day and my skin is clear and the red nose is gone. Years of wasted expenditure on over the counter remedies ....

If you don't want to wear make up you could use a daily gradual face tanner which will help even out your complexion.

Dr Hauschka's sensitive night ampoules really help my skin if I'm having a rosacea flare -up (I have it mildly). But if that doesn't help then seeing a dermatologist would be a good idea, as rosacea can get worse if you don't calm it down as soon as possible.

Why? Even if this was a made up post, the replies are helpful to someone who may genuinely have the same problem?

It wasn't a made up post I was trying to give advice

I'd definitely suggest a trip to the GP. I have rosacea- with a red "drinkers" nose and spots (so glamorous!). Avoid spicy food, alcohol, hot weather and saunas. I use a CC cream to help- Clinique I think.
