LRP Redermic R and salycilic acid

Hello,

After some excellent advice on here before Christmas and my use of retin A I am hoping for some more excellent advice.

I want to start using Retin to address my wrinkles and skin tone however before Christmas the 0.25 gel I was using seemed to be making me oilier ans wasn't really doing anything for my blackheads.

So following the advice here I am now double cleansing morning and evening with cetaphil cleanser and avene cleanance micellar water. I then follow with either the Nip and Fan dragon's blood facial wipes (pm) or LRP duo and sun sense (am). My skin did seem to get spottier but has now calmed down and I think I am ready to reintroduce some Retin A in the form of LRP Redermic R.

So my question is - can I continue to use the dragon's blood pads in the evening and the LRP duo in the morning? I believe it is these products that have reduced my blackheads.

Any thoughts? Has anyone done similar? I just keep reading that you should not use salycilic acid with a retin product but I am not sure why? Will my face fall off?

Thanks in advance...

You are meant to use Redermic at night and then use a sunscreen.

Using salicylic acid and retinol apparently reduces the efficacy of both and might irritate your skin.

I've no idea about the dragon's blood pads - never heard of them! I use Cetaphil to cleanse morning and night and I was also using Effaclar duo morning and night after cleansing but I've now changed at night to Redermic R for about a month now.
TBH I haven't seen much difference yet. The Redermic hasn't affected my sensitive skin but likewise hasn't really made any improvement on the Effaclar. I'm going to keep going with it until the tube's used up but I don't think I'd buy it again.

Lpr redermic is not retin A. It's 0.3% retinol so you are likely to see only a small improvement on fine lines over the course of a few months to a year. It's not the strongest OTC retinol product on the market. Skinceuticals has 0.5% and 1.0% (which is max % allowed). I gave up with the redermic because I wasn't seeing significant results. Now use skinceuticals which is more potent.

The retin a gel is best suited to oily skins I believe. You may have been better with a cream based version. Also it takes around 8 weeks to start seeing improvements in skin with retin A. (Then you'll see the blackheads diminish).

Previous posters are right about using retinol at night. You can use your acids in the am.
