not in black though...
or the more traditional desert boot shape...again, ignoring colour:

FankEweVeryMuch Thu 04-Feb-16 22:50:16

Defntiley the classic shape rather than phenia for me. I love them.

Mrsfrumble Thu 04-Feb-16 23:02:45

I bought these beauties a few months ago and I love them. So I'd say traditional too.

Although the Phenia might be better if you are petite / slightly built and don't want anything too clumpy. I'm v. tall and like clumpy shoes!

Higge Thu 04-Feb-16 23:14:28

I like a clumpier boot, the Penia is too neat - If had had to choose one it would be the Clarks Originals - but ideally I'd go for something like the Phenia with a bit more attitude.

Phenia is Clarks Originals Higge, they're calling it a more feminine cut. I love Originals and rue the day I threw out my dusky pink ones all those years ago. I've got my hands on some purple clarks originals phenia desert and they are pretty beautiful, but not sure if the design is undermined by the changes and whether to just go back to the chunkier shape. They are lovely and neat about the ankle though...

Higge Thu 04-Feb-16 23:39:52

Ok sorry for the confusion - I'll be blunt - I really don't like the black ones - they are neat and Mumsy. grin

Higge Thu 04-Feb-16 23:43:53

And to me neat is bad! Flattering is good but neat is just so so dull, I hate neat! I feel better now I've got that off my chest! wink

Ok Higge I come here for honesty! Thats my only thing with them that they are a bit too delicate. I'm going to find me some proper desert boots!

MaryRobinson Fri 05-Feb-16 06:38:00

I much prefer the phenia, but with roll ups you may need a chunkier shoe to balance it out. So you will have to try them on in the shop and have a look.

I will say that I wager the two tone monstrosity will soon be 70% off in the sales. It is hideous.

Mrsfrumble they truly are beauties! I've looked for those and can never find them over here. And they are a bit more practical than suede too.
Next decision is which colour to go for!

Floisme Fri 05-Feb-16 10:36:02

I'm totally confused about what is supposed to be original here. The desert boots I remember were quite high on the ankle, more like 'Mrsfrumble's' but in dusky blue suede - none of those colours look right.

But yes, clumpy every time. Excellent with roll ups - kerching.

CreviceImp Fri 05-Feb-16 11:02:46

I like the neat ones more. The others are too retro clumpy.

Wagglebees Fri 05-Feb-16 11:21:00

I like the neater ones too. The clumpy ones are too 90's for me personally.

Wagglebees Fri 05-Feb-16 11:23:07

Although I have just bought some cleated chunky heeled boots that are like some I had in 1997 so I'm being a massive hypocrite. grin

Floisme Fri 05-Feb-16 12:03:04

Actually I've just had another look and I'm switching sides grin It's the lower rise ones for me. I have well turned ankles and want to show them off.

keeponkeepinon Fri 05-Feb-16 12:46:15
Phenia desert in aubergine purple?

keeponkeepinon Fri 05-Feb-16 12:55:12

Flo - I totally get this. My ankles are my best leg joints so I would prefer to show them off!
They are a departure from the proper shape though and I'm not sure if this makes them look like an 'inferior' copy! I def don't wish to be wearing mumsy shoes either! They were only 30 quid too.
Purple phenia or look out for some proper desert boots in I don't know what colour!?

Floisme Fri 05-Feb-16 13:08:59

The purple phenia for me <turncoat> I love that colour.

Mumsy and proud smile

Pictures on actual feet here! I do wish they'd always do this.
