Dress for wedding/party

Been invited to a party to celebrate a wedding that took place abroad; its at a nice hotel, and includes afternoon tea and an evening buffet. I have a really nice pair of shoes but need a new dress! I have virtually nothing as I'm just in jeans and t shirts looking after my 3yo and 1yo most of the time.

I have seen this dress which I really like, would it look ok with the shoes? I like the dress but worry a little it will look wrong in a couple of seasons, not sure how long the 70's trend is going to last. I cant afford new clothes often so i try to buy things i will want to wear for a while.
