Anyone care to recommend a hooded coat or jacket?

I push a buggy on the school run, so can't hold an umbrella. It's taken me a while, but I've figured out I need a coat with a hood to deal with this situation.

I've looked at the Seasalt sea folly jacket. I quite like it, but it seems a bit .....boden-ey. I don't understand how to wear parkas. Does anyone have a hooded coat or jacket that they love and would recommend?

Joules have had nice ones in the past, haven't looked of late. I have a Barbour wax biker jacket type one which in fact doesn't have a hood but keeps body dry and I always wear a hat which keeps out all but the worst rain!

Hmm, there is a joules near where I work. I'll pop in tomorrow and take a look, thanks!

I've got an M+S waterproof hooded anorak v. similar to this one which I absolutely love. Helps that it's now on sale, and there's also one with turquoise detailed rather than mustard if you prefer brights.

Mine's stripy on the inside with orange/coral details (similar to the one on the website) and I absolutely love it. Lovely large pockets and so so warm (and windproof). I often don't need a jumper with it because it does such a good job of keeping me warm, really easy to move about in too. The extra length in the body keeps most of the rain off too. The only thing is that the inside isn't detachable, nor is the hood, but that's not a problem for me as the whole thing can just be put in the washing machine anyway.

I've just bought a couple from happy rainy days, wearing their winter coat just now and it's coping well with the vile weather. I also got one of their macs which is nice too.

I have this Superdry one. Mine is charcoal with pink toggles. Really warm and snuggly, waterproof and I've had lots of lovely compliments on it :)

Many thanks for the recommendations everyone. I tried this one on today in joules. It's much nicer in real life than in the website. Just debating if I can bring myself to spend £140...

I've got a jack wolf skin 5th avenue jacket in navy. Much nicer in real life than the stock photos. It is so warm and waterproof but feels soft. They are expensive at full rrp but often found discounted online. It's not high fashion by any means of course but it can look stylish when zipped right up and its's a lot better than most of the waterproof / warm stuff out there. I get a lot of compliments on it

Joules Newhaven Parker £129. I fully recommend. Wind and waterproof with a hood.

OP I have that Joules coat (but in navy flowers bought it just before Christmas) Being such a mild winter I have worn it non-stop, hood is good size that doesn't blow down, totally waterproof for fellow buggy pushing for the school run coat we walk in all weathers!

I did have £45 of JL vouchers made it bit better and we have a Joules outlet nearby I kept popping into. Having the draw cord to the waist makes it extra flattering I think and I get random people commenting on how nice my coat is Grin.

I do have way too many other waterproof bum covering stylish coats, I do just love a coat thread Grin

Totally cosy and fully waterproof Evolution parka jacket from Zakti... Soaked cold and miserable walked into Zakti and bought this life saver ! Ok it is a man's jackt but it's a lovely simple cut and quite contemporary and minimalist in a dark navy blue. I bought a medium and I'm a size 12-14 and like room to move. There's a wide flap that covers the zip that has invisible magnetic catches as do the pockets, very clever and a fixed hood wth the same cosy lining. The website says it's down-filled but on the coat says polyester..whatever it is it's lovely and warm but also breathable and in my opinion a real find
£90 from £110

I have the joules with the detachable down inner which is proving really flexible...I also have Boden wax jacket - it must be at least 8 years old now but still keeps me warm and dry!!

My new Gloria coat from struggling company NESS arrived yesterday, it's lovely. Warmer than joules & the quality is beautiful.
