Struggling to find anything that doesn't look like a wedding dress or 50s style under the bust type thing....I've tried Next, Monsoon, Boden, M&S, John Lewis!...anywhere else I could try?

Matalan? Ted Baker in Debenhams sometimes do some nice dresses but sometimes the patterns aren't very nice. H&M sometimes.

Try supermarkets too. Sainsburys and Asda do some nice stuff and occasionally Tesco.

What kind of style do you like?

Was also going to suggest Ted Baker debenhams

Open to anything really, she's a very 'girly girl' but is still going to parties with bouncy castles so want something fairly practical and not white.

I brought DD a lovely dress in Ted Baker Debenhams today, dark pink with a big skirt (her choice!) it was £18 instead of £32. Debenhams Jasper Conran also had some pretty ones.

Tkmax has some reasonably priced party dresses. I'm surprised you not found anything suitable in the shops you listed. I normally find there is loads my daughter likes in Next.

How 'formal'? The tulle skirt and top or tshirt combo is very popular where I am, very practical and comfy too.

I really like this dress and it's 100% cotton so not too hot for jumping and climbing.
this is fab, cotton again pricey though.

Debenhams usually has a lot in a slightly more formal style.

Would this dress be ok?

DeathMetalMum Sun 31-Jan-16 21:19:51

Boots are good for dresses for that age. I fimd our local large boots store has a better selection than online. Dd wouldn't accept a skirt for a birthday party it has to be a dress hmm .

My daughter has this exact dress and has worn it three times to various parties. It is very warm though. The dress itself washes up well and my daughter tells me it's comfortable.

There are actually loads on House of Fraser in the sale - I can't keep posting individual ones smile
