Well, for many who don't give a shiny about fashion, and have a certain alternative style, they are a classic and will be worn regardless but I suspect as you are unsure and posting on mumsnet S&B for advice then that's not you.
So, as a fashion trend, then they are over. You should be looking at a white trainer by now, Nike Cortez being the Next Big Thing.
Or you could go with if you like them, wear them anyway.
