Scarlet Red Hair back to brown, is it possible?

Hoping someone with hair dyeing experience might know the answer to this as I have never used hair dye in my life.

Teenage son had mid to dark brown hair. It was bleached white and dyed brigh red with this dye: www.directionshairdye.co.uk/La-Riche-Directions#container (Directions hair dye). It has now washed to an orange/ pink colour but is still obviously there.

He is doing a show with a youth theatre and can't have coloured hair. They are suggesting using some spray on brown colour that will just brush out (they say they will buy it from the pound shop?) but I thought maybe he could just dye it back to brown. Would that be possible, does anyone know?

I was thinking something like Just for Men or Nice and Easy etc? or any other suggestions

Thank you!

Yes totally possible but you will need to use a warm/gold brown as the Directions one is a temp colour and it will have a green hue without it from processing with the underlying bleach.

Excellence is the best one. Dark frosted brown in level 4.15 if he is naturally very dark or level 5 similar if he has a medium brown tone. The 4.15 has a warm enough tone to counteract the green and looks really nice if you are dark naturally.

That's brilliant information.

Thank you so much for your help

Just an update. He got his hair cut quite short (it was chin length) so he only had a couple of inches of the red left, then we followed your advice. Went with Loreal Excellence, Natural Brown 5 and it worked perfectly-thank you.
