Can any moisturiser be as good as clinique but cheaper? (Sorry done to death!)

Sorry I know this has been done a million times but I'm after specific recommendations for little ol' me! Im early 30s, baby face so not concerned with wrinkles, very dry skin which peels in winter if I don't treat it right!

Moisturisers I like are clinique turnaround daytime
Clinique moisture surge for nighttime
Benefit triple performing moisturing emulsion
Ysl top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow

I don't like anything tooo heavy during the day but it needs to be ultra moisturising. I like the satiny feel of the ones above :)

So, is there anyone out there who knows of a cut price version? (See my other thread - I'm horrified by my beauty spend!!!) Any luxury brand addicts managed to break the habit?

Inused to alway blow my money on brands like dermalogica, clearing and Estée Lauder. Now I spend ages looking at reviews on sites like Paula's choice and can find some better moisturisers for less £££££.
I have weaned myself onto the French pharmaceutical brands such as la Roche posay and avene. Most moisturisers around the £15/£20 Mark. I like the la Roche posay hydraphase range ( I use uv rich).
I still use a Clinique night moisturiser but the daytime moisturiser is more about
protection anyway so don't need to spend a fortune.
Also the olay regenerist range gets good reviews. I use one of their serums now.

Nivea or Astral.
Seriously, you can get away with anything as a moisturiser (though my holy grail remains Neal's Yard Frankincense) as long as you put the work in first with cleansing, acid toning and a good serum.
Clinique turnaround was an innovation in its time, but a cheap acid toner will do the same.

Think you might be over egging the benefits of certain brands. I just nowadays get no 7. Always offers. Lab tested. Etc

Olay for me. There's a large range but I like the Instant Hydration one, and it's often half price in Superdug.

I am using the body shop hemp face protector during the day as I walk my dogs in all elements and I can wear make up over it and it doesn't affect my foundation.

At night I have been using their body shop aloe restorative mask and my skin is looking fab.

I also use alpha hydox soufflé.
I am very old though!

I'd liken The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet to Moisture Surge in terms of feel/texture, if you like that light, gel-like feel. I have used both and prefer both as day time as they sit nicely under make up. The Body Shop one has a little shea butter in as well, which might be better for you if you are a bit dry.

A side issue OP is what you are using to cleanse with. Could this be drying out your skin to the extent that you need to use those moisturisers? Peeling is rather an extreme reaction, I think.

Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream is fab. I used Clinique for years eventhough it dried by skin out, the Garnier cream is great in every way. I wear in in the morning and at night.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I tried a lidl daycream today and I think it was okay!!! Will see how I get on using that and a good night cream. Now if only it came in a fancy bottle...

I exfoliate twice weekly with a benefit face polish, that combined with good moisturiser has meant I haven't peeled for a few years, so long as I keep up my routine. That's why im reluctant to try anything else as my skin is great at the moment, unfortunately my purse doesnt look so healthy!

I use the Clinique Moisture Surge overnight masque. It is still £30, but that is for 100ml, which isn't too bad.

I finally look dewy!

Mine skin is very similar and I love Aldi Lacura. It's £1.99 so no risk to try and it outperforms all the expensive potions I used to buy

I have heard brilliant things about aldi, will keep up with lidl but great to have other options.

prima I never thought about cosmetics like that!! Comparing her 100ml makes a by huge difference. I don't see myself stopping my habit completely as I love my luxury at night but I love moisture surge mask, so I'll definitely switch to that!

I can 100% recommend Aldi Lacura. May I ask which Lidl moisturiser you are using? Have just moved and now have no Aldi in easy reach!
Other than that I've always found Garner to be like a cheap Clinique. Better in many ways.

Currently using an Olay hydration one which is ok. Have used high and low end, I liked the feel of eg L'Occitanes Divine Cream etc but really it didn't perform miracles. I also used to use the Clinique spf25 moisturiser but wanted a higher SPF. Shame really as I would have liked that moisturiser (used it for a few years too) it had a higher spf or had none so I could apply mine as I do now (just use a normal moisturiser and sunblock on top).

Good sunblock (spf50) is essential.

Superbly did you use Clinique city block? They do spf 25 and spf 40 in that. I use the 25 so can't comment on what the 40 is like. It's not particularly heavy moisturising and I tend to use a hydrating serum followed by that but like that it is suitable to use around the eye area as so few eye creams contain spf.

Moisturiser is generally not all that unless it's including some special ingredients to help skin barrier function which mostly they don't. It's the ultimate product to save your money on.

I like Cerave which has quality ingredients of ceramides and niacinamide, Olay has the niacinamide as well. I liked that they are very light feeling.

But if you just want moisturiser in spades, Nivea blue pot is great.

If your purse isn't looking so healthy, have you thought about Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix instead of the Benefit Face Polish? The Benefit is basically a glycolic product and you can get the same cheaper elsewhere Smile

Moisture surge is a gel moisturizer, isn't it, and this style has been widely copied at many different price points.

Some dupe ideas here. I've used some of the Asian ones and they are excellent.

bodicea no it was the moisturiser super defence as the city block is an spf block rather than a moisturiser as far as I recall.

I also wasn't keen on Avene (which had an spf) but quite liked their cleansing bar.

I liked the Olay which had a high spf but then realised I'd prefer a higher spf than it had.

Did Not like the origins with spf which was a shame.

Budget SPF has been the hardest thing to find. I'm still looking. I like a lot of Avene products, esp cleanser, but didn't like the SPF either. Hated Nivea. Sunsense was close and high SPF but not really budget either.
