I like them alot! For every day wear. You cant beat Merril for comfort if you do a lot of walking. I think they'd be fab with skinny jeans too.

Yes they are quite pirate-y now that you've pointed it out and yet strangely it still hasn't put me off them.

Still undecided, I think I'm going to buy them and try them on and then decide. They're not for wearing out anywhere nice. I've got skinny calves so suspect my legs may look like a twig in a bucket in them anyway.
