Bad Hair Day turning into Bad Hair Fortnight. Please Help!

Does anyone please have any suggestions. For the past 4 years or so I've had my hair professionally coloured (I think it's called a "colour wash" but may be wrong. I'm starting to go grey and this is the only way to hold the years at bay).

Have just returned from the USA where I didn't use my usual shampoo - I used Head n Shoulders rather than my Pantene for Coloured Hair, which I've been using for these 4 years. I admit this was my own fault - I simply didn't take the Pantene with me.

Since I got back I've reverted to Pantene, but in the last few days my hair has become unbelievably greasy looking on the top (not at the ends which are fine). An old hairdresser of mine, in what I always suspected was a bid to sell me his extremely expensive, £20 per bottle, shampoo, said that Pantene coats the strands of the hair, which is why it can be good at preserving colour. However in the last week or so the top of my head has felt, well, coated.

Does anyone have any suggestions. My DH suggested conditioner (which I have never used, and am loathe to add yet something else to my hair). Is this just, as I am hoping, a reaction to British water (the US water in Florida was much, much softer), as well as a different shampoo, and I should stick with the Pantene until my hair readjusts, or is there something else I can do?

Please let me know if you have any thoughts - I wash my hair every other day but it feels "greasy" straight after washing at the moment which is awful. Thank you.

Try vosene. I find it strips grease off and makes it feel very clean. I use it every other day and since I've used it my hair is at its best.

I immediately notice a different if I use a different brand of shampoo my hair immediately feels heavy and weighed down.

Yes I suggest Vosene or any clarifying shampoo. I had this a while ago and after using vosene original I was able to go back to my usual shampoo, Good luck.

Huge thank you to everyone. I tried Vosene this afternoon and already feel much more like myself. I haven't used it since I was a child, but one wash and it's already better. Thank you.
