No wonder I prefer dresses!

I'm flinging again and this time it's tops and skirts.

Things I haven't worn for several years. So I'm bagging them all up and off they will go to a charity shop.

( I will be posting an armed guard on the empty drawers so DH doesn't sneak his stuff in!)

However, yes! I look at my stuff and think how stressful it is trying to get the right top to go with a certain skirt and how much more storage you space for all these separates .

So from now on, it's dresses.

( I will keep a few faves...just in case I get a mad urge to try and pair up two items that might just look good together!)

You are so right.
I own four skirts. I love them. Wear each one once a year max.
Whereas my dresses I wear all the time cos they are so comfortable and easy to throw on.
I kid myself that skirts are versatile, or cute, but actually they are a pain.

Here's a laugh! I got to the third bagfull and the light bulb in the walk in wardrobe popped.

That's telling me...enough is enough. You might regret this!

I love a dress for work. They look smart, and you don't have to worry about what goes with what. Pull it on and you're dressed! (Or accessorise, if you can be arsed.)

I love dresses but can only wear the fit and flare style because everything seems to be made for women with no hips and arse. Drives me mad.

I love dresses and skirts, for me it's trousers that are never going to work.

Oh, I live in dresses, especially for work. So easy and a complete outfit in themselves.

Plus trousers look awful on me. Literally - every pair of trousers I have ever tried on, in every style. And skirts dont flatter my mum tum figure.

That's exactly how I feel sanity.

Look outside at the weather, select appropriate dress, earrings, necklace if needed .

Shoes! easy peasy And it's job done.

Hand me a skirt and a bag of tops and I'll dither for hours...then go and get myself a dress.

Been there done that..too many times!

No I'm the opposite. I've ditched the dresses and I'm back in separates (love that phrase too, it's so 'Are you being Served?') I find them so much more versatile.

I'm with Floisme, I can't wear dresses. If its not the waistband in the wrong place, its the length.

Flo do you wear plain or patterned ie all plain or patterned skirt with plain top or patterned top and plain skirt?

I don't wear a lot of pattern, Dowser. If I do it's likely to be on a skirt. I don't have many patterned tops - apart from stripes (quite a lot of stripes!).

I agree you do have to think more about what might go with what but I quite enjoy that side of it and trying out different combinations. With a dress there are so few things you can do to change the look, well at least that's what I find.

Well I unearthed a skirt yesterday . Bnwt lol! So I'm wearing it. Giving it a go.

It's per una. Let's get that one out the way first ha! Ha! It's a mixture of black, mustard, aubergine/ purple, blue and teal . Sounds dreadful but it's actually quite muted. Let's call it vintage. It must be 5-7 years old.

I've got a plain fine knit aubergine jumper with it. It needs a scarf I think to brighten it as my black thermal vest is showing in the v neck. I've dressed for warmth today as I'm not well.

I got my scarves out the other day and a right motley crew they turned out to be. I need to invest in some nice dress scarves, maybe to go under a coat rather than bundled around my neck to keep out the winter chill.

So where for nice thin scarves that you can wear with a plain jumper and won't have a screaming match with a patterned skirt.

I'm thinking plain georgette. Unless anyone has a better idea.

Flo did you get rid of all your dresses or are they just mouldering away at the back of the wardrobe lol!

This skirt is actually nice. It's a soft drapey fabric that fits on the waist ( I'm cheating , it's an elasticated waist. I might as well be honest) but its not all flared on the hips and skirt. So I feel quite neat in it. I don't buy from per una now. Haven't for years. The skirts that fit my hips were swishing round my waist and were often quite hideous. Probably one of the reasons I went for dresses come to think of it.

I struggle with dresses too, the waist is never in the right place. What dresses do you all wear?

I rarely get rid of stuff, Dowser - I'll probably end my days on one of those decluttering reality shows. So the dresses are still there and I may come back to them one day.

I really like purple with teal and the great thing about that skirt is that there will be loads of tops out there to go with it!

I get most of my scarves from TK Maxx (although I'm trying to wean myself off them as they show up my jowls).

You're my sort of woman Flo?
I'm going back through those bags in case I made a big mistake. ;-)

I came home with 4 plain scarves from Bon marche. Not a lot of choice in my town. A teal, a navy, pale blue, a dark lavender and a deep dark purple with a little delicate pattern.

All in the sale..so bargain!

These skirts are amazing as they have poppers/buttons meaning one size fits all! They are also reversible so you have two skirts for price of one. They have hundreds of designs but they are all different.

Dresses are absolutely the future. So easy and no hassle to pull on. I wear dresses, plus tops/jumpers and skirts to work because I find it easy to find smart skirts. My problem is that I can tons of beautiful tops for weekends, but no skirts that are not frumpy, too smart or Fat Face-esque.
