Help with House of Colour?

I would very much like to book a House of Colour consultation, as I am sick of buying clothes that do nothing for me, in a panic. I have a new(ish) baby and only have a few items of clothing that fit my interim size (12-14+, usually a 10) while I am getting back into shape. I would just like to have a few outfits that are comfortable and presentable until my shape has settled down.

The HoC classes here are on weekdays and I just don't think I can do it around school runs and with a breastfeeding baby with me. My DH can't really take any time off work any time soon to help out, either.

If I were to post a photo of my face, could anyone help identify even my basic season? Or do I really need to do the whole consultation process? I have chestnut brown hair, green/brown eyes with a dark blue ring, and Caucasian skin that is a bit olivey.

Can anyone help at all? I am really struggling with feeling so shoddy and uncomfortable all the time. I will definitely book a HoC thing befor going back to work when the baby is a bit older!

It sounds like you could be borderline based on your colouring. I am no expert but for me the lightbulb moment was the cool/warm drapes. She held brown and cream up to my skin and then compared it with navy and white. I looked a million times better with the second combo than the first, so was cool (winter or summer) rather than warm. After that I think it's just shades and tones, summer is more muted IIRC, but I'm sure there will be someone along who knows more.

Thank stokey. If I am borderline, that makes me feel a little better about being so confused!

Whereabouts are you? I had my colours done by a Colour me Beautiful consultant and they have consultants all over the place. I have very sensitive skin and their make-up is brilliant and has never given me any problems.

Gosh, I didn't realise there were any consultants who did NO weekend classes (am a HOC consultant). Have you tried emailing to see if they can see you on a weekend?

It is impossible for anyone to be 100% on an analysis with a picture - you're as likely to succeed picking a palette on Pinterest that appeals. I will be shot down in flames for saying that as obviously I have a vested interest in preserving the sham etc etc Grin.

If your DH can cover the weekend could you travel slightly further - say to Cheltenham? From memory it's not a particularly long day.

You can also investigate the courses they run as they need models so you can get it done for free!

Yes, if you can make it to Watford they run training a couple of times a year and you can get done for free - depending on which day you go you might not get a 'full' analysis though (depending on which stage of training the stylists are at), so check when you get asked.

Or come to Devon - I only really work on weekends, and it can't be more than, ooh, a four hour drive each way Wink.

Try Lisa Whiteside in Witney - she did my colours on a weekend day!

Thanks hopefully, it does seem like the sort of thing that needs to be done in person. I play sport at the weekend which tends to account for Saturdays. I might wait for the season to finish, and the baby will be older by then too. Maybe I will give up and live in sports kit until then. And Devon sounds nice ;)

destinys that's interesting! I am not sure I could cope with being looked at and scrutinised by lots of people though Blush.Blush

I have had three deliveries this week and everything except a pair of earrings has gone back! One White Stuff cashmere jumper is fairly nice but it looks like it will wash horribly - terrible quality for £100!

Unfortunately DH's job isn't predictable with working days (he's military) so it's hard to plan things more than a week or two in advance. He has just reminded me that he has some leave in March so I willl look for a weekday course then, I think. Suspect the sales may have ended by then though...

And fizzy - thank you, that's the consultant I was looking at.

raising yes, I could get to Cheltenham, but it is more time away from the (breastfed) baby. I am probably rushing it a bit because I feel so mumsy at the moment.

I popped into work today and felt such a scruff. I just wore a pencil skirt and a thin jumper, I'm sure it was fine but it would have been nice to be able to choose from more than one ill fitting outfit!
