Fashion Bloggers - do they never think " i have enough stuff'?

Christ it is relentlessly irritating. I popped back to look at a few after some time and enough already guys - you can only style a pair of skinny jeans so many ways.
STOP BUYING STUFF*

am aware its none of my business/first world problem/dont have to read them etc etc So dont bother saying all that

This is why I stopped really looking at them. Although I know some order lots of stuff try it on and send it all back.

The sheer consumerism of it depressed me.

when i was younger it was near impossible to find clothes that I liked, now there is so much stuff everywhere, i sometimes panic buy and think it will be like the 80s again with no choice so maybe they feel the same

This is why I've stopped looking at most of them too, especially since they all seem to get the same stuff which they then wear once and is never seen again. I used to like Unfancy, who had a capsule wardrobe each season and wore the same stuff in different ways for several months. She's stopped blogging though, sadly.

Agree. I really liked Un-fancy too and still look on there for inspiration.

I have recently found another blogger who makes good use of the stuff she has and only adds minimally to what she already has (ie.normal) called Dorothy Camper. She looks good without being too fashion victim IMHO.

The sheer volume that is bought by some actually makes me feel a bit sick. Particularly those (who shall remain nameless) who can't help buying the same thing in multiple colours. Not sponsored to do so either. Their wardrobes must be the size of a room.

I also hate the terminology used by some to justify the constant posting of new outfits; "new story on the blog...." Story??? Multiple pictures of you prancing down a pavement with the wind in your hair does not tell a story. Well, I made up a story about it but you wouldn't like it....

I've never once looked at a fashion blog. Am I missing something? Are there any for short middled aged size 16s?

I'm a bit shocked by the amount of makeup and beauty products people seem to buy. I like makeup and I wear it quite often but everything I own fits into one bag. I don't need a special toolkit box to keep it all in. Obviously amateur.

The ones I'm thinking of definitely buy with their own money. There really can't be enough days to wear even half the stuff they buy. Summer before last "someone" must have have bought about 20 pairs of sandals, many the same style in 3 colours, last summer they bought the same amount of new ones, and the shoes from the year before were never seen. They must have a mountain of barely or unworn sandals in their wardrobe, or a very grateful charity shop near where they live. Or a healthy eBay account.

But yeah, I'll say it, none of my business.

I've looked at lots recently to redefine my style after losing lots of weight but I'm getting tired of the constant having to get new things and styling very similar outfits.

The blatant sponsorship does my head in too - loads of blogs will suddenly feature the same product and while they say it's been given to them to review, it's still boring and just repetitive.

I do quite like Dorothy Camper though - she seems relatively normal and doesn't do loads of sponsored crap all the time.

i like following the fashion bloggers but also find them frustrating. many blog about an essential wardrobe staple, one everyone should have, absolute bargain at only £850. seriously, they assume everyone has the same budget they do (kat from dmbl40, where does the money come from?, it seems endless these days).

also find them amusing in a lemmings kind of way when the same fad does the rounds, currently it seems to be golden goose trainers that look fresh off a tramps feet.

don't mean all that in a bitchy way though, all good fun to still follow.

Kats husband has a very well paid job. But she makes money from links as well.

I was looking at sale stuff but couldn't think of any gaps in my wardrobe that needed filled.

Just Googled those Golden Goose trainers - yikes, they are horrible. They make even the Stan Smiths that they were all wearing a few months ago look okay.

BrendaandEddie the only blogger I've found who blogs and has a proper job is an Australian called stylebyaggie but you need to like minimalist style and she has a big budget (think she's a lawyer). I guess if you work any number of hours out of the home you don't have the time to take photos of yourself against brick walls in various never to be worn again outfits, edit them and upload them to a blog.

I think there are lots of reasons people do it:

it is fun and they get to make friends
they want the validation
trying to make a career/money out of it
have stopped working for a bit and want something to do

Like I said it was nice to find a normal blogger who shops from the high street putting stuff together well .... And wearing clothes repeatedly. She works as well as a teacher IIRC so not a blogger for a career.

Refreshing -compared to the mutton tribe that makes up most of them.
