Christmas nails...

Diddlydokey · 11/12/2015 09:05

I always get a Shellac mani just before the Christmas do to see me through the festive period. Last year I went for a light pink as the regrowth annoys me but I might be more Christmassy.

What are you going for?

I'm going to go for sparkly pillar box red Smile

Today I am trying a French style mani, but a dark metallic green with gold tips. If I like it I might have it done in a gel next week. But the re growth would be very noticeable if that bothers you....

At the minute I have on a deep red shellac called "crimson sash", it's beautiful, and very festive. I'm getting my nails done again on Christmas Eve though, and I'm thinking I might get silver glitter then for Christmas Day and New Year.

Ive got my own UV lamp and gel polishes, but I'm going away for Christmas so whatever I chose will have to see me through.

I'm torn between doing a base coat of blackcurrant with red glitter over the top, or doing a base coat of pinky-beige with gold glitter over the top. I'm leaning more towards the gold as the regrowth will show less, but the red would be very dramatic and festive.

China glaze ruby pumps, it's a super sparkly red

I'm wearing artistic colour gloss gel polish in Hotness which is a bright red jelly filled with red glitter. It's gorgeous.

This is my biggest dilemma right now so thank you for this thread. Shellac lasts for ages on me so I'm likely to have these nails for 4 weeks station on Monday. So I want sparkle but I don't want to be fed up with them in January. Have done glittery red and loved that, but want something a bit different.
Hmm I should not be thinking about this as much as I am!

Was wondering about this sort of thing but without the snowflakes... www.google.co.uk/search?q=shellac+christmas+nails&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=isvn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwivzcXol9fJAhVE1xoKHatACOcQ_AUIBygB#imgrc=B-TJu4hsHTlaCM%3A
But maybe plain blue with sparkle on the white tips? Hmm

At the moment I'm sporting red with red and silver glitter and a beige with gold glitter. May switch to a pale blue nearer the day but I haven't decided yet.

I've got a full on sparkly red, think of Dorothy's slippers 😄. I can't stop looking at them but am dreading regrowth although I am booked back in on 23rd so shouldn't be too bad and may go for the same again.

I'll be doing my own, with yer normal polish, none of this gel stuff, nor acrylics cos I'm old :) I plan on changing my polish practically every day, and have OPI's 'Affair in Red Square' (scarlet with a gold haze), 'Bogota Blackberry' (crimson with a gold haze) , 'Today I Accomplished Zero' (supposed to look like dark red bubbles in coke) and 'Jade is the New Black' (erm, jade, like it says on the bottle) lined up. I might also do one of those nail art things with a tree and a bauble and maybe even a snowman if I'm feeling festive one evening. I've got a shedload of golden/silver glittery sparkly top coats as well, some foils, and a few stamp plates arriving in the next week. It's going to be fun!

Lots of sparkly red going on!

I like the blue Smile & I'm also jealous that you get 4 weeks!! I'd love to get mine done every fortnight but that's a December treat only

Also China Glaze Ruby Pumps. With a covering of Essie As Gold as it Gets if I feel the need for even more sparkle!

Ha yes I have freakishly slow growing nails! So four weeks for me and I have such a lovely lady who does fingernails shellac, toenails shellac and Brazilian in one go (and feeds me cake) then that's me sorted for a month!
I do like the blue but am now wondering about silver glitter, I wonder if this would work on a darker grey background. I have super dark grey on now (can't remember what it's called but pic attached) and love it

And a minimal sprinkling of glitter. Otherwise it will be the ruby slippers red.

I have full on silver glitter acrylics. Normally just polish my own nails with normal polish so not sure how long these will last and I got them done last week. If they look ok I'll keep them till after Christmas but then go for something a bit more subtle.

People with shellac nails, how do you encourage them to stay healthy for longer? I get quite annoyed at the feel after a week, they just feel a bit alien and I end up taking them off and then I'm annoyed at myself? I need to get some oil next time I get them done.

Report
Diddlydokey · 12/12/2015 23:09

No buffing and getting them removed without peeling is the best way to keep your natural nail healthy. It is hard not to peel if they start to lift tho

You got those today? They look grown out already! Lovely colour though.
