Different make up for day and evening?

I only go out about twice a year (sigh) but need a lasting longer makeup for evening. I just bought some Estée Lauder makeup for a night out but it came to nearly £200 eeek! As I only go to a wedding or night out about twice a year I cannot justify this expense as it will probably all go off before I use it up or will be out of date in a fashion sense! So I have tried wearing the makeup for daytime the last couple of days but it all looks to heavy and made up for the day. What can I do in this predicament? I need everyday makeup but also something for evenings and special events which will only be a couple of times a year. Is there anyway I can combine the products or just have a few extra products for evening. I am loving the Estée Lauder double wear for evening but I looked like I was wearing a mask when wearing it in the day :( please help!

If you mix your Double Wear with oil for during the day, it'll last much longer & it thins it out, so it's much more sheer.

Have a look on YouTube for Wayne Goss oil with foundation, he explains it much better than me.

Is that a facial oil? I have one from aldi I could try if that is what it is? If that works it would be ideal as it seems a shame to buy a foundation for day and a different one for night if the night one only gets used about twice a year

I find if you mix double wear with nivea it thins it down nicely for the day time.

Ooh I have some Nivea cream too, how do you mix it? Does it make it look less Matt? I am fining I look very Matt and one dimensional with the double wear

I have an old tube of no7 intelligent colour foundation which I used to use for daytime but for a night out it doesn't last the distance which is a shame hence why I bought the double wear

Blob of double wear on the back of your hand and a smaller blob of nivea and mix up with your finger, a lighter foundation (I don't mean colour but you can do it to get a different colour as well) works well to.

Yep I used to mix double wear with serum or moisturiser which makes it lighter.

Although I have foundation I still use after 4 years and it's fine

Do you apply the foundation/moisturiser mixture with a brush or with fingers?

I prefer fingers as helps it melt into skin and I struggle not to get brush marks when I use a brush alone so end up using fingers at the end anyway.

I guess I could use the same principle with the lipstick too, add some Vaseline to make it more of a balm for day.

I find that nivea lotion mixes well with lots of types of make up. It's also great for making a stick concealer more spreadable.

I've just posted this on another thread but I think brushes are overrated.

I have Mac ones and body shop ones, there's no difference between them! I use my fingers as I don't like brush marks and you have to use your fingers to blend in with your hairline anyway.
